QUOTE(snrd @ Jan 17 2017, 19:58) Ive been playing for a while, but Ive always been more of a random encouter / dawn of a new day player. I feel like I don't know anything about this game for my level.
How do you earn credit in this game? I see training that costs millions, but I barely make a couple of K a day. I always assumed it would get easier as I leveled up, but now I see the arena challenges cap off at 1k credit.
Well if you play enough you get more drops, income and solid credits or drops that convert into credits. If you play A LOT then millions become possible. The more you level up and build into a more solid fighting style the faster your clears, so you can play more of them, plus at higher difficulty that actually allows better chance for random drops that can give a few thousand credits immediately or if useful traded for millions (simple example the Clo06 as seen here). Obviously don't expect to reach that point easily or quickly. There are ways actually, if you are willing to actively help the site, but that's up to you. Wiki has a full begginer's guide and more or less there should be everything here. It's very fast to level up the first 210 levels but after that things become slower but also more solid and you can farm credits. By that i'm saying don't rush things cause several levels came by easily. But yes, as long as you level up you will see the credits increase.

Thanks for the replies. Should I just power level and not worry about money/gear then, until I reach the suggested levels from everybody? For me, equipment above 'fine' quality that also match my play style/build drop so infrequently that I'm worried if I will out level my gear and get stuck. I'm still using items <20 my level because nothing better drops.

Don't worry about either, just try leveling up to the point where getting decent income and gear is at least a possibility, which it isn't below 200. QUOTE(snrd @ Jan 17 2017, 20:18) I'm still using items <20 my level because nothing better drops. Feel free to buy replacement Averages from the bazaar every 20 levels or so. They're cheap, and it's better than using junk many levels below you.

QUOTE(Superlatanium @ Jan 17 2017, 20:03) Are you using Imperil? If not, then I think your result makes sense, especially if you're new-ish to elemental maging and don't have capped proficiency. Proficiency is extremely important with no-Imperil style.
Funny part? I AM using imperil. You all made it clear enough the other day that it was the way to go for elemental mage. I go imperil free for the first 23 rounds till the monster rounds become solid, and then 2-5-8 and hoverspell. After round 700 if anything i stop recasting imperil on the ones that resisted it, in order to give time to spirit potion or health potions to refresh (imperiled monsters die in 1-2 hits, but the non imperilled one takes 3-5 hits, but since alone, won't kill me). For now i'm not using infusions (unless if ridlemaster active) or vase-gums. Well the problem is with my equip. I'm starting to gather credits now to hunt for something decent-good, but wanted to see how far away i am in performance right now. Kind of a let down. That's... too much (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Oh well. I had millions pass by my hands. It's not so hard to farm them again now. staffcapbodyhandslegsshoesMy elemental prof is 753 so i suppose i am at (753-453)/753 = 0.4 This post has been edited by Epion: Jan 17 2017, 22:24

For Hellfest, I think no-Imperil 1.0 Prof factor is the way to go.
However I am using Holy Element, it might be different for a Wind Mage.

I think you divide by 453 (753-453)/453 = 0.66

(753-453)/453 = 0.66 Yes And that's not bad. Could be higher, but with 2x Mag gears, probably not worth forging more.

Correct. So long as one's prof is actually maxed out, prof_factor formula can be simplified to prof_factor = Bonus prof (from equip and/or perk) / Level
Your prof_factor is indeed 0.66, which seems close enough to the sweet spot of 0.68 for Imperil style elemental mage.

When I started imperil mage, I forgot those. That sucked.

Yeah, i'm ok on that part. I made that mistake in the past though, since before personas, when i was swapping abilities to play DW, i would always change them, but never set them (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I was always surprised on how people could play DW on PF so easily, when i would struggle in every single round. Ahhh... good old times (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

So, how good is spirit shield? Assuming I'm reading the formula on the wiki right it seems pretty good. Is it a skill i should always have up along with spark of life?

After the ability upgrades it becomes basically one of the most important buffs, so yeah. Before the upgrades its meh, but after it's great. As soon as you can upgrade it do it. This post has been edited by gianfrix94: Jan 18 2017, 02:29

It's a staple, you'll wanna have it up 100% of the time (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

What level upgrade does it become good? Kinda have only 1 mastery points left so want to know before i replace another skill with it (or wait another 7 levels).
