Good advice, shield+rapier worked much better than two stun weapons for me, and I breezed through the lv.75 girls. This is my best rapier, that's my shield. Armor wise, I am quite happy with my kevlar setup: PD: 29A, 12%M, MD: 40.7A, 12.9%M Avoidance stats are: 20.4% evade, 44.3% block, 12.3% parry, 38% resist. I have autocast shield for 30-something absorb, and SV for almost 15% more evade. Spell wise, I rely on autocasted Shield and Shadow Veil, I throw Haste on myself, and cast Weaken, Poison and Blind on the opponent. I DO NOT have Bewilder or Silence. My depr, cur and supp proficiencies are good (80-100). My overcharge is 178%. Now, do you think I am ready for the Gods? The wiki page could use a section dedicated to taking on the Gods... Absolutely not.

I have 2 general questions that I was hoping some of you experts could help me out with. I'm playing through as close to a pure mage as I can get (because I like it when you turn the difficulty up to 11) and was curious about damage a little. I'm taking a lot more damage now than I remember taking and I was wondering that as a magic user how should I be going about damage mitigation? Is evade my goal or is it too hard to get a lot of that early on and I should be using heavier armor? The Green Aura doesn't seem to be up to snuff anymore and so I'm somewhat at a loss. At least nothing is standing out to me in any way. The second question is just about attributes. Since I'm focusing on magic should I just be picking up all the offensive spells for the time being and then latter on get the rating boosts? Or are rating boosts good even at low levels? I'm sitting on like 9 attribute points because I'm not sure what to get next (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Any advice you guys could give would be appreciated.

QUOTE(sornyninja @ Oct 22 2010, 01:48) I have 2 general questions...
You should look for evade armor, because interference decreases your magic's damage. Elementalist gear is better, but hard to find. Evasion and killing everything in one shot are how mages avoid damage. I'll send you a cap with decent evade I have laying around. You should also reset your abilities and get lightning first, then fire. Only one normal enemy is resistant to lightning; blue slime (aim thunderstorm at him to do more damage). I'd recommend getting at least the lightning ratings for the damage boost, but the HP/MP tanks are important too. The EXP tanks don't give as much of a boost as you'd think, so they should be a low priority.

finally felt like taking on the four Legendary girls but i have no idea what to do and expect from them.
since i am a mage, i am thinking of just taking on Konata with my usual elementalist setup. as for the other three, i am thinking of putting on some divine prof and holy equipment and just cast holy spells.
or maybe i can get a battlecaster rapier and go the PA+poison route. then just keep casting spells while PA+poison is in effect.
what do you guys suggest?
furthermore how strong are they compared to the boss?

Yes. (Assuming you can beat bosses without too much trouble as a mage) QUOTE(hentai_fusion @ Oct 22 2010, 13:09) as for the other three, i am thinking of putting on some divine prof and holy equipment and just cast holy spells.

Do both. Wear heaven-sent gear while using a rapier to proc PA. Hit with Holy spells while PA is up. (Obviously also using Poison) QUOTE(hentai_fusion @ Oct 22 2010, 13:09) furthermore how strong are they compared to the boss?
Not that you will listen (no one EVER listens): Konata is a glorified boss. (I think the only difference is that she has something like 2-3 times more HP) You will beat her easily which will fool you into thinking ALL the legendaries are like her. They aren't. Mikuru is AT LEAST twice as hard as Konata. Ryouko is even harder. Yuki is even harder than that. This post has been edited by Boggyb: Oct 22 2010, 22:37

I don't think there's much difference between Mikuru, Ryouko, and Yuki aside from the nature of their magic and spirit attacks, and by that I mean physical/magical effects.

They take less damage as you go up (or down depending on how you look at it) the Ring of Blood hierarchy.

If you say so. All I know is they die in about 4-5 attacks from me now, so I don't even notice a difference. In fact I don't even remember a significant difference in their damage resistance from way back when they first became beatable.

4-5. You must be doing significantly more damage than me then... From a quick test in the RoB: Konata- 2 Mikuru- 6 Ryouko- 7 Yuki- 7

I don't have tokens to do tests right now, but I know I was getting channeled crits on Mikuru for over 80k damage earlier today. I can almost get Konata in 1 now, if you don't count the initial soul fire.

Yes, except for one Battlecaster helmet I've got. It's got my Magic Rating on steroids. My gloves are pathetically weak too since I only have of the OWL suffix. Otherwise it would be even higher damage.

What kind of bonuses does your gear give you? (If you have absurd pre-nerf 20+ bonuses, I'll never catch you)

Nope, none of that. I only have one remaining pre-nerf item, and that's a Magnificent staff that I don't even use.

Oooh, Hito, I'll bet your staff is magnificent. Come on the IRC sometime and I'll stroke it and make it do some magic. *slurp slurp*
