Ok I know I'm awful and probably doing everything wrong etc etc. Since I'm just winging it. But I've had no trouble at all for 18 levels as a caster/mage/whatever. Today I get on to do arenas and everything is just absolutely shredding me. Same gear/stats/everything as yesterday. Level 2/4/6 arenas that I've been doing on heroic for like 8 levels are suddenly crushing me on hard and even giving me trouble on Normal. At some points I'm chain casting cure and just treading water on the HP pool.

Again, I changed *nothing*. I'm doing the same damage as ever, just seem to be getting hit much harder suddenly.

To kill Legendaries (minus Konata) faster.

Did you check to make sure you didn't accidently switch equip sets? If not, and you're sure about your difficulty settings, then I'm not sure what might be going on. There haven't been any updates as far as I know.

That was what confused me. Checked set after the first round of getting my face smashed. Then checked to see if any updates. Then went and got face smashed a few more times.

Grindfest/Item World seem to be normal. Just sucks to throw away most of my meager credits on arenas of DEEEEEEATH.

What's the equipment under level stuff though? I level my items some but not religiously. Some of my armor is definitely lower than my char level, though that's been the case for awhile. Is there some break point where it starts to matter more?

When I say I've been winging it I mean just that. I use gear that sounds castery(cloth,light), put stats in int/wis/end because that sounds right. Haven't done any research beyond seeing what baddies are vulnerable to what spells.

Like I said, I'm sure I'm awful=P

To what degree? Am I better off with nothing in a slot than with something heavy adding 20ish interference? What about nothing vs. leather at 6-7%?

Gear has not exactly been easy to come by, especially with the Arenas recently eating most of my cash.

Interference is a bitch to watch out for when you're mage.
Every point over 25.0 will reduce your magic proficiencies.
And every point at all will reduce your offensive magic damage by 1% I believe.

don't bother doing the arenas unless you can clear them with ease. alternatively you can always lower the difficulty to cake for the arenas.

you can always make use of grindfest in cake difficulty to get some quick credits. the difficulty mode will only affect the monsters and exp gained and not the amount of credits.

You had better unify equipment a little more.

Did the item world try it?
The gear which isn't enough for the credit and which you can't buy has the possibility that you obtain the thing of that that in the item world, too.

It becomes credit if you sell it if it is unnecessary. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

@JethroXL: Your END is too low. You need to keep it at least equal to your level, otherwise YOU WILL DIE. It's the major component of both Shield Rating and Barrier Rating, see here.

As for armour, wearing something is probably better than nothing at all, but don't add anything heavier if you want to keep using magic. The lower your level, the more important it is to keep your equipment levelled up, because it makes a proportionally bigger difference to the stats than at high levels.

Which staff below does the most damage for electric magic? I'm uncertain if magic damage multiplier or elemental proficiency or elemental damage bonus is most important here.
