QUOTE(varst @ Feb 7 2012, 13:33) Everyone seems to forget there's a spell called regen2. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Anyway, cure 2 can be quite inefficient, but then it's just one AP to prevent some truly unfortunate events, so why not? I even have cure 3 (which I NEVER have the chance to use) I tried regen1 which seems too slow for me (just like a lesser-average health potion). Mobs reduce my hp real fast and it doesn't seem to be catching up.

Well.....as far as I can remember, regen 1 isn't that efficient. I would say it's only marginally better than cure 1 as it spreads the hp regen evenly.
Regen 2 is another story. I've never seen anyone who don't like this spell.

Most of the benefits of Regen and specially regen II are seen the higher your level is, you will get more evade and action speed, so monsters hit you less frequently and regen can kick in for a few turns before you get scratched.

I was wondering. How the hell are you supposed to level up your equipments? Is it even feasible at my level to level up a 70-80-ish piece?

QUOTE(JamesCID @ Feb 7 2012, 07:08) And that's exactly why I meant, it's to use when your HP is extremely low. When you don't have spirit shield you can take some heavy damage that will leave you almost dead, and one heal might not be enough to withstand a critical hit in the next turn. and if the monster's action speed is high enough you will be dead by then. Happened quite a few times when I was leveling, that's why when I'm in the red numbers by an unfortunate sequence of critical hits I'd rather spend a bit more mana but at least make sure I will be able to take the next hit.
Of course, it's a situation that you rather avoid at all costs but sometimes you find yourself in it in the blink of an eye.
Cure II saved my hide several times. Sometimes you just don't have the luxury to cast two Cure I in place of a Cure II. It's oblviously overpriced, so you don't really want to cast it regularly, but as a contingency spell it's a lifesaver.

Assuming at least a normal difficulty IW world it can be done, just take with you godly mana pots and try to get as many item slots as possible via pack rat. As you keep leveling up you will be able to go through many more rounds. I don't really see the point on doing it at that level though, unless it's an uber awesome piece you are bound to find or buy something better without having to spend several hours leveling it.

I have n00b questions and this seems like a good place to ask (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Is this normal? Total Item Drops: 116 from 1186 monsters (9.78% total drop chance) Items: 114 (98.28% of drops, 9.61% drop chance) Equipment: 2 (1.72% of drops, 0.17% drop chance) Artifacts: 0 (0.00% of drops, 0.00% drop chance)
Or do the drop gods hate me when it comes to equipment? In The Arena I've received 3 equipment drops: Total Rewards: 15 Artifact: 0 (0.00%) Equipment: 3 (20.00%) Item: 12 (80.00%) I'm currently L45 and don't even have a full set of armor yet (Again, is that normal?). Should I be buying equipment from the forum/bazaar as opposed to waiting for drops?

You shouldn't buy from Bazaar, go for forum threads. As there are many decent gear for us low levels selling at a very modest price. There are even some free one's in the freebie thread.

Should I be buying equipment from the forum/bazaar as opposed to waiting for drops? If you primarily play in arenas, the drop chance seems normal. (assuming you haven't picked up many levels in Scavenger) The base drop chance for equipments is about 2%, again something normal (assuming you haven't picked up many levels in quartermaster) You should buy the equipments from forum. Not only are they cheaper, but they also have better quality. You also have good reference on equipments' price against its quality, unlike bazaar where there seems no connection between quality and price. This post has been edited by varst: Feb 7 2012, 19:55

So I take a break for about half a year and come back, and suddenly I can't do as well as I used to. Did the monster HP scale really go off the charts, or did monster PL just get extremely high?
Spirit Stance doesn't seem to be reducing the cost of spells by 25%, is this a bug?

it should. in fact, the mana cost shown when you highlight the spell changes when you turn on spirit mode.

Oh, I didn't know it changed after you turned it on. I just calculated it off of what was shown.

Hey, what deprecating spells should mages have? I regret getting silence. It makes sure that they can't use sp or magic attacks. And as a mage, my magical mitigation is naturally high and poisen makes sure that they can't use their sp often.
I'm thinking poisen, weaken, possibly slow and nerf when its available. Not that I use deprecating spells too often. Just thinking about resetting again. Also thinking maybe I shouldn't max those spells out simply because of how rarely I use them. I do like the duration for them being maxed out. Not to mention the mana reduction.
Help? Thanks in advance.
quick edit. Also wanting to reset to change my spells. Currently doing tier 2 lightning and tier 1 fire. I want to do tier 3 fire and get the rest of the elementals at tier 1. (I like that exploding proc and most of my gear is elementalist anyway.) But should I just wait till I get some mojlnor/sutr equips? Thinking that by the time my stats are where I want it, I could reset again and I should have the equips I want too.

For the deprecating stuff, I say weaken alone is probably enough if you're doing everything but bosses. If you're doing ROB, then poison + weaken + bewilder is sufficient, probably. As for your Tier question, it depends on how easily you're killing mobs now. T3 spells wipe most of the mobs out, with tiny HP left? If so, you may want to switch back to T2, using T1 to clean up. It saves mana. My question: Is absorb worth the points?

Absorb is not worth it, costs way too much for the effect you get.
@smilejb: I'd try to get phase mjolnir/surtr stuff before thinking on resetting your abilities. Your damage will change and might be enough to storm through arenas comfortably with tier 2 and 1 spells.

Short answer, no absorb is not worth the points. Long answer, most of the mobs don't use magic. And crits aren't absorbed either. For bosses yes. But I would put only one point into absorb if you want to have it.
Edit: Ninja'd
My tier 2 does do a lot of damage but only on normal difficulty. But that could also be attributed to my stats not being completely rearranged yet or my lack of the right equips. Now I wanted to switch because the only tier 3 I have available is fire. But not only that, it would save mana to cast a tier 1 and then tier 3 on a mob that has that coalesced mana.
Still if my stats and equips were just right, than it would be better to just kill most in the first hit and finish off the rest with a low level.
About the deprecating, I thought bewilder was more for melee? My magic mitigation is at 27%. Hoping it will be higher again with the stats and equips. (probably around 50 like it was with my melee set).
Now blind is something I always thought about. That with shadow veil may make me just about impossible to hit. But I'm not sure how much blind decreases the mobs accuracy. But just like the rest, its something only for bosses.
Edit: I did try to get some of those phases but I believe you JamesCID the one who outbid me on atleast 3 items in one of the last auctions >_> (I believe it was all mjolner). Not really mad at you though. Just couldn't stay on the extra half hour to keep bidding. Not to mention not wanting to spend too many credits. And I thought it would be a dick move to just keep upping the price for you since you and another person seemed determined to get them.
