Wiki: The Forge: -Salvaging retrieves materials from higher-quality equipment pieces and scrap from all pieces. Only low/mid/high-grade base materials can be directly acquired this way. Rare tier armor can also give Energy Cells.

So basically that means you can't get Shade fragments or Bindings from Salvage, correct?
Only from the Shop or your Monsters, correct?

Are there any known issues that will cause random encounters to bug out?

I definately did not get 24 random encounters today, yet i stopped getting them when i refreshed the main page. My last RE bugged out as well, i saw the link, clicked it, and was simply re-directed to a page saying that i wasn't in a battle. From then on, i haven't gotten any REs at all.

I was using the HV Random Encounter Notification 1.3.4 script, and it was indicating that i had REs available, but refreshing the main site did nothing. I read a post that stated that it was possible for some API calls to trigger REs, maybe the script caused that? Then again, i'm pretty sure quite a few people use the same script here...

I noticed that the hp/spirit gems dont seem to be restoring 100% or 50% of my total hp/mana respectively. The wiki says "Base health"...is that different from your total hp/mana? How do you find your base hp/mana then?

Also can anyone confirm whether weapon/armor proficiency gains are scaled to the amount of damage you deal/take, just like how magic proficiency is scaled with MP costs?

I was wondering if penetrated armor would still apply to damage done by ethereal weapons? I thought all monsters had 0% mitigation against void damage by default?
The best I could find after searching for this question was this:

The quote also mentions elemental strikes, but shouldn't that be calculated with the corresponding elemental/holy/dark mitigation of the monster? So it wouldn't be affected by penetrated armor (except for void strike)?

And if the pierced armor proc is so much better than bleeding wound, why would anyone use swords instead of rapier/estoc? Because they are cheaper? (sorry if that should go into the playing style questions)

Also, last question, am I asking too many questions?

Thanks, that seems a rather odd choice though...it basically encourages using the weakest weapon that you can get to grind proficiency, rather than killing monsters as efficiently as possible (by using skills, buffs like haste, spirit stance, etc).

Does anyone happen to know why it was designed this way when magic proficiency scales with MP cost (presumably to discourage spamming cheap spells to grind proficiency)?

Penetrated Armor (PA) affects physical mitigation, not specific mitigation (Fire, Cold, etc.). That means it greatly increases your damage output even with Void damage (Ethereal/Hollowforged).

For future questions I`d suggest you use the Ask the Experts thread in HV Chat subforum. Not that there's anything particularly wrong with asking here, you're simply much more likely to get an answer there and you won't have to wait quite as long.

I wonder about spark of life: spell version will not trigger if you have 1 life and you'll die. Will the scroll version trigger in this case?

How does attack speed stack?

If my stat screen says i have 25% attack speed, and i cast haste (+50%), what is my final attack speed?

Scremaz suggests :

one action from your side requires 0.625 time units, while one action on the other side (mobs, procs, buffs...) still requires 1 time unit. waiting for confirmation though.


Is this correct?

Also how does the difficulty affect the arena clear bonus exactly? The wiki simply says that end game challenge and below on normal/hard give a equip drop equal to a tier 1 trophy roll. What about other difficulties? Does doing endgame challenge and below on nightmare - PFUDOR differ in terms of trophy tiers?

Longest journey on nightmare is listed as a tier 2 trophy, does increasing/lowering the difficulty affect the trophy tier? If yes, how exactly?

Tokens : Wiki states that lower level arenas have a 15-25% chance for a token drop, 50+ round arenas have a 50-90% chance for a token drop. Is this affected by difficulty, and how is the range calculated? For example, does Killzone (45 rounds) have a higher chance to drop a token compared to Fresh Blood (5 rounds)? If yes, what is the difference exactly?

Wiki also states that the last round of arenas and random encounters have an increased loot drop chance. What is the increased loot drop chance exactly? The wiki does not seem to list it.

This is no longer the case AFAIK. You still get a few more credits at dawn if you have made a post in the last 30 days, but that's very minor.

Clearing daily arenas is the most important. Mace + Leather is great for beginners. Don't hesitate to adjust the difficulty if you feel like the challenges are too easy (or too hard).
