I understand that poison now does dark damage but did the formula for it change as well? I seem to be doing at the very least half as much damage as i was

I put the new formula up as soon as I could:

How exactly is magic damage calculated? Magic Rating * Spell Base Multiplier * Proficiency Bonus? Does "+ % magic damage" on staffs and stuff affect MR or what? I'm trying to figure out whether losing 4 INT is worth 17 Elemental Prof and slightly higher mitigation stats...

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Jul 12 2011, 11:38) *

The damage formulas are fairly straight-forward, except for the part that involves rating. I'm not even going to start trying to explain that, since it's going away.

CODE
$damage = max(1, ($damage_roll * $spell_data['d'] * $magic_dmg * $critmod * $aoemod * $channelmod - $defense_abs) * $defense_mit);

$damage_roll is from the rating formula.
$spell_data['d'] is the damage factor from the spell.
$critmod is 1.5 for a critical hit, 1 otherwise.
$aoemod is 2 for the primary target of an AOE, 1 otherwise.
$channelmod is 1.5 if channeling is active, 1 otherwise.
$defense_abs and $defense_mit are calculated absorption and mitigation for the element and attack type in question.

$magic_dmg is calculated separately as:

CODE
$magic_dmg = (1 + $base_bonus) * (1 + $elem_bonus) * (1 + $prof_bonus) * (1 + $boost_bonus) * (1 + $hath_bonus) * $this->get_stamina_damage_factor();

where...

$base_bonus is magic attack damage / 100
$elem_bonus is element spell damage bonus / 100
$prof_bonus is magic proficiency / 200
$boost_bonus is 0.0625 for every ability point put into the spell past the first
$hath_bonus is from the Paradise Lost hath perks

Magic rating comes from INT and WIS as shown here (assuming that part's still up to date). No one knows how the magic rating vs barrier rating part works, with the possible exception of Tenboro.

Hello, just found the game 2 or 3 days ago (including the forum^^) and well,
i have a few questions:
(sorry for my bad english)

1:What should i take Onehand-Weapons or Twohand-Weapons also have a Staff?
(If the weapon typ is important I have a Dagger and Rapier as OH and a Longsword as TH)

2:Is Magic important? i jst use Normal attack , Cure and Shield

3:Ive found a Chaos Token made a Monster in the Lab, but how can I fght with it?

4:What difficulte do you play?
First ive played hell (since lvl 5) it was pretty easy , then tried Heroic , it was easier but didnt get much exp, but its faster....
so any tips?

5: Wich Stats are important in the first levels?

Hope its understandable..

1) Start with 1 handed + shield. you'll get to 2 handed for speed some days.
2) Some say magic is important, for melee, only SILENCE is important
3) "Error 503 Service Unavailable" sigh trying to get the answer.the arenas that require blood tokens are beyong you at this point if they need more than one.

4) Whatever you're fine with.
5) None, pick whatever helps your style.

Melee or magic, up to you. If there was a "better" one, why would there even be both?

Melee is less stressfull, maging used to be faster, but after the patch ?
I any case, to melee, you just let your cat walk on your keyboard.
Rapier+Shield keeps you alive
2 Handed weapons like Estoc or scythes are 4*times as fast, but you'll also die damn fast.

I prefer melee, some prefer magics.
Now that you can reallocate your points you'll never be entirely screwed (unless you create multiple accounts).
Let's just say, when you need to allocate more than 10 million points to a skill and still haven't made up your mind, well...
You might just need help best provided by some official faculties.
To has some fun, just go melee.
Endurance*1 points
Agi 0,5*endurance points
Dex 0,5*endurance points
Wisdom 1/3*endurance points (barrier rating) (wis increases mana regen)
Int 1/3*wisdom points (to increase base mana, or just don't allocate anything here)

==edit==
Just to be clear. I'm talking about points you need to level up endurance next. NOT the level of your endurance.

Thanks for the answer. Does +Prof equipment reduce the rate at which you gain profs?

Thanks for the tipps guys.

@Bunko
You helped me out alot , after your first Post I buyed a Shield, took a Rapier,
and i must say the damage is nearly the same as it was with 2 Weapons.
btw should i have always equipped a shield, or like around lvl 100 is it better to put it away?

Does the level of difficulty affect the quality of item drops, or does playing on certain difficulties increase certain kinds of items to be dropped, and if so what difficulty drops what more often.

It does affect the quality of item drops (you get Crude/Fair less often), but I wouldn't hold your breath getting anything above Superior even in IWBTH.

It is common opinion that after level 100 it's usually better to resort to magic, as it speeds down fights a lot via the Area of Effect spells (spells that target ALL the enemies at once). About me, I'm lazy, so I'm not sure I'll make the change. I'll let you know when I'm over 100 (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Not anymore, since the stamina drain and the random mazes will effectively stop people from farming them nonstop at an epic rate.

(Energy Drink edit. I always forget about those, since I'm cheap allergic.)

How can it stop? I calculate a little:

I get about 50 credits per round in Grindfest.
One grindfest round drain 0.05 stamina. 20 stamina = 400 rounds.

400 rounds*50 credits=20000 credits (1 energy drink costs about 13000). Plus i will have a lot of equipments (about 1000-2000) and maybe some artifact (about 16% chance).

i heard something like grindfest drain has been increased to 0.1 per round in great status

that's pretty awesome if you make 50c per round in normal status though (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

and you get 1000-2000 equip in 400 rounds!?!? and i thought the general artifact drop rate was about ~1 per few hundred rounds? 16% sounds a tad high O_O

e: oh you probably meant 1000-2000 credit value from equip. yeah i guess that'd sound about right... but artifact... that's really hoping for luck
