Item World gives much more EXP than Grindfest, but no credits.

I can think of one reason you might want to flee rather than allow yourself to be defeated: fleeing won't add to the kill counts of other players' monsters.

Related to the kill count thing, has anyone confirmed if fleeing counts as a victory for PC made monsters? And if so, does it count even if they were defeated but were on the field?

I've been wondering the same thing. AFAIK only Tenboro knows the answer. Testing it out against your own monsters would be impractical, to say the least.

What is the etiquette on the WTB and WTS forums? The guy who makes the thread waits for the seller/buyer to send goods first? What if you send first and he doesn't compete the deal?

About kill count, I guess when your monster stays alive until the end it counts as a win and a killing blow. If your monster gets killed or the player flees it counts as a win but no killing blow. Again just a guess.

There's really no set way of doing things. It all depends on how much people trust each other (and most of the established users seem to be pretty trustworthy). And if you don't trust each other, there's always the option of setting a CoD.

You get an experience bonus after your first post. It increases at a diminishing rate till 100 posts, but you really don't get much more after 20 and really not much more after 15ish.

The daily bonus is what Boggy was talking about. There isn't a lifetime bonus.

No one knows, exactly. I believe Sonic's Calculator makes an educated guess at the formula.

Hi all! It's been quite a while since I played HV or posted here in the forums, and I've missed you guys! I stopped raiding in WoW last week, and I've found myself drawn back to HV.

All the changes since I last played (which was some time in early 2010) make the game look much more interesting than before... but it also means I'm not sure if my previous experience applies to game strategy any more. So I want to ask for advice from you guys about what the changes made in my absence have done for the game (the Monster Lab looks especially interesting!), and what kinds of battle strategies work best these days.

Back before I quit I was playing as an mage focusing on Elementalist gear. Is that still a good strat?

Which abilities are worth using these days? I notice that I have 5/5 in Poison, Slow, Weaken, Sleep, Haste, Shadow Veil, Bewilder, Spark of Life, Silence, Arcane Meditation, and Nerf. Are any of these no longer worth while? Should I pick up any of the ones I don't have (Heartseeker, Absorb, Blind, Confuse)? what about the Spike Shield spells, and Barrier?

What are these nice shiny new trophies and artifacts that I've got in my inventory? Fiber-Optic Xmas Tree sounds especially fun!

Well let's see what's "new relevant stuff", for a mage like you.
-First action time as been changed, Here's the details:
CODE
Base action speed = 100 + AGI / 3

Boost from Haste (spell) = 20 + Supportive prof / 2.5
Boost from Haste (Scroll) = 100

Action speed = max (base action speed + boost from Haste, 400)

Base action time = 500 - action speed

Time multiplier = action specific multiplier * X-action multiplier
Some action specific values are:
Normal attack = 1.0
Defend = 1.0
Magic Missile = 1.1
I haven't looked at any others.

X-action multiplier = .75 if player has the appropriate X-* ability, 1.0 otherwise

Burden penalty = (Burden - 20) / 2 if Burden > 20, 0 otherwise

Action time = (base action time * time multiplier) + Burden penalty

-Spell dmg:
CODE
Spell damage = Base damage*(1.5 if a crit)*(1.5 if Channeled)*(1+MDM)*(1+EDB+rating)*(1+prof/200)*(1-interference/100)

Arcane Focus adds MDM in the formula this way = 10 + ( supportive proficiency/25 ) (among another things)
Infusions add rating.
(this also means EDB gear normally give more dmg output than similar proficiency bonus gear. I'll leave the calc's for you.
Another thing is, although we still don't know how the ratings go in the calc formula (magic vs barrier), we do know the higher our magic rating is, will be more effective against enemies with higher barrier rating as well.

-Deprecating proficiency now increase the durations of D. spells by twice rate now.
-PA no longer reduce enemy's barrier rating

I think that's all for now. Essentially you play the same way for GF/IW/Arenas, but it's easier with haste, you are faster now.
For Gods on higher difficulties, full Curse-weaver set, Blind will practically make them miss all hits, and flower vase+bubble-gum+poison= OMG dmg for hundreds of rounds.

-Get Blind, and absorb if you want. Barrier and spike spells still not important.

The trophies are like the ones last year, keep it or use them that's your call.
The artifact, gives the same rewards like the common one, I would prefer to keep it.

I has a question, how are trophies ranked?
I imagine it goes something like:
The boss trophies (ManBearPig Tail, Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, Mithra's Flower, Dalek Voicebox)
Legendary trophies (Lock of Blue Hair, Bunny-Girl Costume, Hinamatsuri Doll, Broken Glasses)
Sapling? (not sure where it goes)
God trophies (Black T-Shirt, Invisible Unicorn Horn, Noodly Appendage)

But is there any difference among them?
Like for example, does a noodly appendage give better equip than a black t-shirt? Do broken glasses give better equip than a lock of blue hair, etc?
Or is it all the same?

I'm asking because I wanna know where should I waste my blood tokens after I claim all the credit rewards. Who should I be killing daily for the best equip rewards? FSM? RL?
