Hello Tenboro and Everyone.

As you are aware, doujin artists are starting to make claims against scanlation sites. As a scanlation, I'm afraid of this situation. So, in order to avoid any problems and mantain our privacy, I ask you to ban all japanese users from this website.

This is getting very serious, and I'm afraid that the solution of banning all japanese users is the most acceptable.

Thanks in advice.

Are you serious?
So what you are trying to say is you want to single out Japanese users just because they don't approve of something you do!
(IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
You do know how dumb that sounds on a site that's about Japanese porn right?

EDIT: If the artist don't want what they do on the site than they can just ask the sites admin Tenboro to add them to the do not upload list.

Ok lets just say if i was make some things and you uploaded them without my say so and i got mad about it...
I guess than you want to Ban all users that are German or Native American?

That's more are less whats going on here is it not?
You uploaded something, someone got mad about it and they was Japanese so you want to ban "all" Japanese users?

This also ignores the fact that doujinshi themselves are on what can be said to be very shaky legal ground to begin with. The fact that a few people have chosen to be assholes is frankly no reason to ban everyone from a whole country, and the country that provides the raison detre of this site is ridiculous. As Wolfgirl noted if they are that concerned about the issue they can request to placed on the no upload list so there is no reason to make a mountain out of less than a mole hill.

It's their intellectual property, so they are allowed to make claims if they want to. And as Tachikoma points out, they stand on legally shaky ground in the first place, so...

What hallucinogenic substance are you smoking? This doesn't protect your privacy and adds a whole mountain of problems on top of it. Coming from an IT background, it's common knowledge for any administrator that you don't just ban or blacklist an entire region because they are doing something you don't like.

If your only basis for this request is "I don't want to have a claim filed against me" then perhaps you need to go hide somewhere without internet for a while. Or stop doing something that would get a claim against you. Or die, there's always that option.

In the off chance you are reading this and are an asshat and are thinking TL;DR: Banning all Japanese users is a senseless action and I'm damn certain that Tenboro would more quickly ban you than he would all Japanese users

Seems like its one particular artist, virtually spam botting sites even dead archives and torrents. Their request is that future content from their group not be uploaded. If they did it properly though they would talk to the site owners about their works.

Their broken law speak and yahoo email address are the most convincing parts of their argument. I am not saying that their intellectual property isn't important, though as a a doujin circle they don't necessarily possess the copyright, they could structure their efforts to be far more successful.

EDIT: Though it was super effective against at least one person.

Hello everyone. Seeing that this whole thing became a meme war against my person, I would like to explain a little more about the situation of this website and I would like to propose some solutions.

Some time ago, I put a topic in which I spoke about the messages they put some doujin artists in English, as a result of the closure of Megaupload. It doesn't cause any impact until a faggot put a "guide to send DMCA letters to Google" in his pixiv account, [www.crunchyroll.com] which was reported by Crunchyroll. Since that time, some artists, including Yuka Nakajima have been sending these messages reporting E-Hentai Galleries that contain scanlations to Google, removing them from the search list.

Also, everyone knew the arrest of Korean people who worked in the scanlation scene and [www.animenewsnetwork.com] the recent arrest of the owner of a doujin-website which was profiting off of it. In this post I put four questions, which I quote:

QUOTE
1. Does this attitude will affect in a short-term the process of scanlation in the future?
2. Have you had any experience of any doujin circle or artist who asked to not distribute their work, whatever it is (including translations)?
3. What do you think that now the authors are putting warnings in English?
4. Will we end up in a witch hunt, like most notorious case of Linda Project vs. All the foreigners?

In one of them I put it if there will be a "witch hunt" against all scanlations. Ladies and gentlemen, it's happening. Now with people sending these letters to Google, there is a war between artists and scanlations. Just look at the Google Transparency Report and see how many galleries of this website have been removed.

What if it is legal what they are doing? According to U.S. law, although the parodies are classified as "fair use", these can be pursued by the copyright owners. In Japan it's the same. Remember the case of xxzero and his infamous Pokemon doujinshi? This is the same case.

I do not know if the recent action the circle ARCHIVES made is legal because, although they made a parody of the series Marimite, they cannot claim any right, unless it is an original work. The question is : will there be more actions like this? The answer: YES.

This is what I'm worried and, although many will say/are saying "you're a retard" or "you suck", is affecting all scanlations in general. As many have described here , it is unbelievable that an artist whose fame has been generating from this website, gives back to his/her international fandom commiting actions of dubious legality such as sending C&D letters of parodies of copyrighted work, instead of doing the exact opposite: to ask scanlations to translate their work, in order to earn more money. Money moves to industry.

That's not all: although I said in some parts that piracy of Japanese works comes from Japan itself, many of the doujinshi that are displayed in this site are replicated on Japanese websites. This has led to some accusations against foreigners saying "foreigners are pirates". Remember the infamous case of Linda Project. And that's not all. There have been cases of foreigners who have been in Comiket and have been rejected by many doujin circles. Yes, there are doujin circles who refused to sell to foreigners for the simple fact that they are pirates and they will upload their work on the Internet.

I'm gonna ask all the people who threw shit against me: what would you feel if you had a doujin artist you like, and then you go to Comiket in order to buy his work and the artist himself rejects you for being a "foreigner, pirate and thief"? Stop and think about that.

Because of this, I propose these solutions. Discard what I mentioned above here:

1. Hide all RAWs on this site and pin them for the fjords. Translations-only and everyone happy.
2. Auto-delete E-Hentai Galleries from Google in order to avoid any more DMCA letters.
3. Block all the website to the Japanese (the most extreme one).

Well, then, solutions are given. For my part, I'll see if I propose to doujin artists, especially the ones who are publishing in DLsite , to have their work translated with their permission and they can sell them on DLsite English . If you like this proposal, you're free to comment.

That's it. For my part I apologize if my previous comments were retarded. Another thing, if my IP is blocked (Firefox tells me that this Web isn't redirecting properly), unblock me since I have not broken any rule, AFAIK.

Thanks for reading this.

What varst said.

However, deadFreak, regardless of your take on this, or explanations or proposals, there is still no logical reason to ban all of Japan on the site, and it is probably still more likely Tenboro would ban you before he'd ban all Japanese users.
