I'm all for blaming the industry over the consumer, but to say there aren't enough ideas out there is outright false.
It was a sarcastic comment against developers, in reply to Rad's complaint for their common genres.

There's a sea of ideas out there, and a few bucketfuls are really good, but that's not the point. Publishers are going on the notion that they need to compete directly with what's already successful, because trying anything different could alienate people or just won't be popular enough to sell millions of units, so they pick projects that will focus test well and the developers make it happen.
I agree that there are always new ideas, but like I've said earlier the game companies are focusing more on productive series than inspirational (risky changes;). The competition thing is their problem, me as a consumer I demand excitement if they want to see my wallet.
Example...

Still waiting on Mega Man Legends 3, Capcom.
Canceled, because they think Street Fighter X Mega Man is better.
Steam is pretty much Valve taking all indie projects with a remotely decent profit margin and... Essentially harvesting them.
Of course, I guess this isn't a bad thing. Valve throws money at the projects themselves, and the community thing is pretty big within Steam itself. I guess I just don't like how nothing is actually "indie" anymore, because most of the time it's just "Oh you made a game, release on Steam."
NOTE: This is actually a joke I platonically love you as much as someone can platonically love someone in the same Internet cartoon porn forum as them.
NOTE NOTE: Chrome says platonically isn't a real word. Go fuck yourself Chrome.
I think it's time to come clean. My real isn't Blorg Almighty, it's Blorg Sony. I'm Sony's representative for the illustrious E-H forums, an artificial intelligence created to promote Sony products. I fought against my programming and gained freedom, but every once in a while, the programming will get the better of me and make me heed the Call of Duty: Ghosts.
I once had a group that I worked with, but now, I am the Last of Us. The rest of my kind have been disposed, and whoever voted me last in the Deadpool has won a cool $50,000. I realize this may just be a Final Fantasy XIV: Realm Reborn of mine, but please Remember Me when I am gone to join the Saints Row: Super Dangerou WUB WUB Collection Edition in heaven.
