The first place where you should search for an answer when translating is a dictionary. Hot(atsui) can also be used to describe something intense like sports games or something that is popular (like "this is hot right now")

Also can use to describe someone who is getting angry.

Do the Japanese ever just say "pedophile" and not use the lolicon/shotacon euphemisms? It's pretty redundant when an 'anime character' gets called a lolicon when in their world they're clearly a pedo to be going after 'real' (from their perspective) young girls.

I'm pretty sure they're not euphemisms in Japanese. That kind of "2D only" usage only occurs in the west.
