Going to try my luck going for dovakin myself next week once everything settles down and I can get myself away from Skyrim (Yay Christmas) and girlfriend (Yay Christmas!)

Comments that made this thread 10 times chaotic, as usual.

I am disappointed no one linked to this yet. Oh well.

Incidentally, I only read posts - not novelettes. If your post can't fit on my 27" monitor, the likelihood of me reading it is very small.

Heh. I don't have anything to watch nowadays, I might actually give the show a shot; it did make me giggle. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/blush.gif)

After watching bit more, I felt something inside me got drained away, I'm scared. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Well, if you wanted to actually watch it, A Dog and Pony Show is one of the worst episodes. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Try this one.

Been watching it for half the episode now ... I just a kind of guy that would take thing seriously while doing something (HV is one of them!); watching it without knowing the character's name or what the show is about confused me, and a lot of thing seem to happen in that half ep. I just can't do it...

Will have to take a leap of faith at ep1 ... Not now, though. But I'll converted right away if you give me your rainbow katana! (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I am increasingly suspicious that no one here actually watched the entirety of the series; it was just an elaborate ploy to get you to do it. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

In which case, that really is highly elaborate, considering that no one here was involved in getting me to watch it in the first place. And you know, I'd like to think that the collective Internet has better things to do than trolling me personally. Then again...

QUOTE(dcherry @ Dec 27 2011, 07:53) *

No more answering points. Essays are troublesome. Looks like your definition of whiner isn't the same as mine as well.

Your statement appears to lack cohesion as well. Actually I'm finding it hard to follow specifically what your trail of thought is considering your past postings. It's as if you're replying point by point without regard for the previous points.

I feel like I answered a brick wall in my previous reply now because I basically got the same thing back again.

And hard casting Regen 2 every single time? Sounds like poor channeling management to me.

As for the Dovahkin. I know of 1 melee that did it. He used a scythe. Day after this patch came out. Yes, Dovahkin. That means BT/IWBTH DwD. With a non-Mace. The weed-thwacker. The bleeder. Not sure if it was even eth. I'll even give you a hint, I mentioned him already + his weapon used in my previous reply.

You sound like you're trying to barrage me with theory. Theory only goes so far. Kinda like the whole mace thing just now.

E: Thought you were repeating yourself but I was wrong. Just a lot of telling me "what you do" and how agonizingly low melee damage is. That's probably it.

Also edited this out, but... Are you trolling me?

Inb4 classless backhanded reply - oh wait too late.

Yeah, different definitions was kind of my points. And especially that whiner is used as a degrading epithet for anyone whose opinions you don't like.
And yeah, apparently I'm stupid for trying to do arguments backed by facts and trying my best to answer everything, guess that's a fault I've acquired from arguing in more serious debates.
And yes, hard casting regen 2. Yes, it's not the best thing, but since we melees don't cast all that many spells, there isn't all that much channeling happening. And casting a cheaper spell over and over just to hope for channeling isn't really going to help with mana management.

I think you know the melee in question. Which as far as I know is pretty much the poster-boy of OMGWTF-equipment.

And yes, I try to barrage you with theory. Because in theory and math there is actual substance, instead of anecdotes of how my friend this and that.
I could claim I know of a mage, whose name I shall not mention, who does school-girl marathons on IWBTH and doesn't even need to use potions. But it's pretty worthless since it might as well be made up, or be some really good luck with power gem drops.

And yes, I was telling you what I do, since you were complaining that I must be doing it wrong, and hoping you could then point out what I was doing wrong so I could start doing DwD on BT with melee weapons. Or any of the schoolgirl marathons on hard even.
And no, I'm not trolling you. I spent way too much time on those earlier posts to be trolling.
Which apparently was utter stupidity from me, confirmed by Tenboro.

Apparently arguments should be short and quick, so as not to get boring with a bunch of facts.

Fixed for accuracy.
Now, Dragonshy, Winter Wrap Up and Suited for Success, on the other hand...

Coincidentally, that's very easy to do (just boring as hell); pots don't really help in that scenario.

Heh, well, there you go.
Even try to lie and exaggerate, I fall short of how much more powerful mages actually are.

Oh well, I'm soon gonna hit lvl 250, and then it's time for a big reset of ability points and take points out of the now worthless OC and start getting some more diversity in spells, currently only got windblast/cyclone, smite/banish, soul reaper/soul harvest and disintegrate/ragnarok.
So what does a mage recommend getting?
Since I'm switching over, I'm not really tied down by choices in equipment and proficiencies but can start from scratch.
Is holy/dark the best stuff?
Should one start off with pestilence to get CM to proc on one of the survivors and the blunted attack on as many mobs as possible, to decrease their damage and to explode it by casting banish on the mob with CM, to decrease mana cost on the costlier spell?

Or should one go with purge and ragnarok instead?

For the vast, vast majority of players, melees are in no way worse off than they were before, and I'm not at all convinced any of them lost anything.

I realized why I'm one of the few exceptions. Or so I think.
Since I never upgraded to shade/new light equip and I use PHASE to this day, this update most definitely nerfed me. Because the only thing that stopped my enemies from penetrating my paper-thin defenses was spirit shield and Evasion. Now however spirit mode drains SP so I run out of SP twice as fast if I use it.
Not using it it takes twice as long to clear so I'm fucked either way.

Well now you know. Tell Snowflake to drop more awesome shade so I can switch to light equip. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

No, you misunderstand me; being strong or weak has nothing to do with it.
I'm not one of those Omnipotent Mages who can one-shot Gods, but I'm fairly sure even they will need to start ETing sooner or later.
In fact (at least in my case), 90% of the time spent on BT/IWBTH Legendary arenas is spent on recharging Mana and/or Spirit through ET/Soul Reaper; pots help very little in that you'll need a lot more Mana that they can possibly provide anyway; you could very well not use any and not feel the difference.
