Hey guys, I need an advice for this page. Hanji discovers she's pregnant and says : はは... //うそでしょ About the はは part, I'm not sure if I should translate it as a nervous laugh, or as 母 written in Hiragana (which wouldn't be weird seeing the context). Any thought on the matter ?

QUOTE(Shinko.Aelith @ Sep 8 2019, 23:33) Hey guys, I need an advice for this page. Hanji discovers she's pregnant and says : はは... //うそでしょ About the はは part, I'm not sure if I should translate it as a nervous laugh, or as 母 written in Hiragana (which wouldn't be weird seeing the context). Any thought on the matter ? I would normally go with my impressions given what I know about the character and their personality, but that's not an option for me here. At first glance, the way it's written seems way too reminiscent of a normal word rather than onomatopoeia, especially given the ambiguity of the context (no image of her mouth + the idea of a mother actually fitting the context, as you say). I would assume that the author had to have understood the ambiguity of using that word as laughter. Usually I would expect such laughter to be differentiated in some way, either with Katakana, or something like punctuating it with glottal stops in the form of small っ [ははっ…] to resemble laughter more closely in terms of phonetics. Based on the above, I'd say go with 母.

QUOTE(OilyFries @ Sep 6 2019, 19:36) I would translate it by: "S...spread me wider... Make a slippery mess of me..." Or something like that.
I think the slippery part is not necessary for more accuracy, especially when the sentence makes sense even without it. QUOTE "S...spread me wider... Make a mess out of me..."

Any thought on the matter ? I personally doubt that it's 母, since it's a basic kanji (JLPT N5 / 2nd Grade Kanji) and I never really see 母 written as はは. The closest I saw that I can remember was in a stuttering dialogue, but it's written as (は... 母...). This post has been edited by sakuracircle : Sep 9 2019, 02:26

I can't cite any examples off the top of my head, but words represented by basic kanji are often written in hiragana all across manga at the discretion of the mangaka. Choosing between hiragana and kanji can even be a question of conveying a character's personality or the general feel of the work. Some mangaka are just inconsistent, and for others it's a stylistic choice. I am pretty certain that i have encountered 母 spelled as はは before (and 父 as ちち), but even supposing I'm mistaken, then I am beyond a doubt certain that there are countless examples of a word like 海 (which is a JLPT N4 kanji) written as うみ.

In my experience, they are written with katakana most of the time in those situations. I know that it exists in hiragana only in some situations, but based on that particular example I can see no good reason to not use the kanji. So I personally think that it almost isn't 母 on many occasions. Having the context of the dialogue would help, since one would usually see the writing style and quirks of an author based on a whole book.

Something about filling up the pages. QUOTE(Shinko.Aelith @ Sep 8 2019, 22:33) Hey guys, I need an advice for this page. Any thought on the matter ? Damn, this is ambiguous. Usually I would say it's just some panting, but as she's grabbing her belly on the right frame I guess it's "mother". "I - a mother? Impossible…" or similar @discussion: Hiragana is used more for soft sounds (like panting), katakana is used more for hard sound. QUOTE(OilyFries @ Sep 7 2019, 16:54) Anaphaxeton answered both of your questions much better than I could: I got a look at your linked gallery and his answer makes much more sense (guess I was just lucky about the Mahou Shoujo).
Sorry, I hadn't seen his reply. Thanks again (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I have a problem, I don't know what means the onomatopoeias at the bottom of this image. I explain: The guy has a monster in his neck and some panels before the thing screamed, so basically the man is recovering the control putting his hands over the creature. It could be the stem of the verb もがく which according to the dictionary has the meaning of "wiggle", "squirm", "struggle" which I think fits the best your image.

Looks good, but I'd change the last bubble as I don't see the "hard working" woman there. It's "piss girl" or something. Would probably rewrite it a little to sound more natural: >As you can see she's already peeing herself, so no need for restraint.

Is the guy eating her pussy? Then probably go with gulping/slurping. I also have a question, how do you translate the following: イキそう私イッちゃうよ!

No, I mean, this is a general question. And it's about a pussy "gulping down/swallowing" a dick. I just wanted to consult whether it's usually translated like that. Some example sentences: 小さいまんこでちんぽ飲み込んでる ちんぽを根元まで飲み込んでだ 肉棒をゆっくり奥深くへと飲み込んでいった。 Does "taking in" a dick works, too? QUOTE(bientaimon @ Sep 11 2019, 11:23) I also have a question, how do you translate the following: イキそう私イッちゃうよ!
I think it's simply the person saying they're about to cum and then stating they'll actually do it. So maybe "I'm about to cum- Cumming!" This post has been edited by dullian: Sep 12 2019, 05:27
