QUOTE(JuliusWinnfield @ Nov 4 2016, 14:08) It does say Lards if you read it literally. But based on context, I would recommend using something like pigs or boars since it would seem more likely like they would have this demon seed (sperm) than a block of pork fat (which is what lard literally is).
Translator here, some more context: Lard is the name of the species [ shinrabanshochocolate.wordpress.com] https://shinrabanshochocolate.wordpress.com/no-12-lard/[ www.puzzledragonx.com] http://www.puzzledragonx.com/en/monster.asp?n=1992Still, the average reader of the translation wouldn't know that unless they happened to play Puzzle and Dragons, so yeah, it's a bit awkward left like that... Changing it to 'Lard specimens', at least the first time they are mentioned, probably would help a bit Other suggestions are welcome!

QUOTE(JuliusWinnfield @ Nov 4 2016, 07:42) How do you all translate ビッチ? Seems like it tends to mean something more akin to a, base, depraved and sex-crazed woman where as "bitch" in English refers to a woman some man doesn't like for whatever reason...
What is the usual way to translate the English word "bitch" from Japanese? I think they don't understand that bitch usually means "cruel woman/jerk," but they are only associating it as "slut dog." So I've stopped using bitch and started using the word slut instead of bitch every time I see it, like in this title. Is that a safe practice? I've never seen a Japanese use it to mean "jerk." https://e-hentai.org/g/992713/9c2770adee/Also, I think I mistranslated the last panel of this a few years ago where he talks about losing his virginity. How should I fix it? This post has been edited by sensualaoi: Nov 5 2016, 22:35

Hey, I've been noticing in some of the mangas I've been translating sometimes there will be furigana written in that have a different meaning completely then the characters they are inscribed to the right of...do you translated the furigana or the larger characters? Seems like the furigana tend to make more sense/be more interesting when translated so I've been doing that, but I'm also wondering what people think.

That's an interesting subject, and it can only be answered on a case-by-case basis. One general idea that might help is to find a way to translate it loosely, and incorporate both concepts into the phrase. For example, if the kanji 友達 are accompanied by the furigana どれい, you could make the character sarcastically mention their loyal "friends" who'll do anything they're told. Or if the kanji 神 has the furigana けもの next to it, it could be rendered as "divine monstrosity".

Probably pork nuts? Some weird way to refer to his balls? Not that many words end in ttsu, and considering it's censored, nuts probably is the only thing that fits (probably)

If I'm not mistaken, Maru is a common end name for a male character. Such as, Hyourinmaru, Zabimaru from the Bleach Zanpaktou.

In those cases the maru is 丸 ◯ is more of a symbol playing joker for other characters, for censoring or masking brand names (チ◯コ = d*ck) maru cos its round
