QUOTE(ultimaflaral @ Oct 20 2014, 18:04) Dank and dusty gets a +5 English modifier bonus for Alliteration. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) UF I agree that "jimejimehokorippoi" / "humid and dusty" might be meant to be translated into a...not vulgar, but more familiar (the -poi suffix make it a familiar kind of speech somehow), expression (or even a single word if there's one). And I'm not good at that even in my own language. edit: oh right the word I was looking for was "slang"...I think. This post has been edited by uareader: Oct 21 2014, 09:30

Can anyone double check the translation of this? Here be puns. The original translation made little sense so I altered it, but I don't know if I got everything right. The scene takes place after the guy snaps after blueballing for several weeks and has some really intense sex with the girl. New translation in red. Okada is the name of the guy. QUOTE もののけって俺の事だったのか・・・ I'm a vengeful spirit...? I'm a beast...?
アタシも結構自信あったけど・・・ I put my complete confidence in you too, but... I was pretty confident in my skills, but...
完敗だよ You got beaten. I totally got beaten.
岡田精子 Okada's a young sprite By Okada's sperm.
岡田せいし Okada's first name? My first name?
ヤスユキですけど・・・ It's Yasuyuki, isn't it? It's Yasuyuki, but...
名づけました! You got it! You gave it a name!
カッコイよね! Cool name, isn't it? How cool!
古の文豪みたいでさ! It's like an ancient scholar's name! It sounds like an ancient scholar's name!
も もっかい云うって・・・ Say... Say it one more time... P- please say it again...
岡田精子!!!! Okada's sperm!!!! Okada's sperm!!!! As I understand it, the pun is that the girl is talking about the guy's 精子 (sperm), while the guy is talking about his 姓氏 (full name). Anything I missed? The original translator also mentioned an additional pun around a seishi that means "young sprite", but I have no idea what that is (精神?) This post has been edited by tiap: Oct 21 2014, 00:35

@kumosu, I can sort of see that, but I've never seen a Zoshi sfx before. Zoku seems more likely if only because it's much more common.
Thanks for the input, though!

I'm translating a doujinshi, but I've come across a segment which seems to be rather confusing: "Kore ga shitagi sanmai to buruma to kaminoke..." "これが下着三枚とブルマと髪の毛" I've translated it as "That will be three pieces of underwear, a pair of bloomers and hair." The context is a girl is buying various underwear and the shopkeeper is the one talking. But as you can see, it says the last item is 'hair'. This is a little confusing, anybody hope to shed some light on it? https://e-hentai.org/s/9ff52fe621/542455-46This post has been edited by megasean3000: Oct 23 2014, 22:06

I've got kind of a bad one this time. The first line is obviously a garbled 気持ちい. As for the rest, I could use some help here as to what these mean. Thanks (a super lot) for any help! UF EDIT: Oh wait, I think I've got it. I'm about 90% confident it's "気持ちいい! 幸せ! 幸せ! 最高に幸せええ!" Context clues for the win! UF This post has been edited by ultimaflaral: Oct 22 2014, 23:39

I'm working on this. I have three questions, so let me start by apologizing for the fact that I'm working on something hand-written. First, on this page (I'm sorry), on the bottom panel (I'm so sorry), the huge text balloon (this is all Red Poitrus's fault!) says: 私の場合その表現は 不正確ですね! たまたま私の サイバネテックブレインに スタートレックに関する データが保存されて いたにすざません! しかし質問された時 一瞬とまどいました 正確に決0.35秒 ほどですか! What does the verb すざません mean? Next, on this page, in the top-center, it says: 城茂中尉以下3名 ミッドウェー西方海域にて戦死 I get that he was killed in battle over midway, and I get that he was a mid-rank lower officer (equivalent to a first lieutenant), but what does 以下3名 mean? Last, what series is named in the bottom middle panel here? As near as I can tell, it says 七三メガ〇 or ヒミメガ〇, but I haven't find any series by any combination of those, and I don't recognize the characters. As an addendum, if there is anyone who can spot-check the romanizations of the Japanese names I pulled out on the last pair of facing pages, I'd appreciate it if you could send me a message.

It's ~にすぎません 以下3名 is like "and three others" (who weren't important enough to be mentioned by name) 七三メガネ is what's hidden under the 伏せ字. (The actual manga is spelled シチサンメガネ)
