Okay, so I would like to have your opinion on something. I have some scans whose quality makes small text somewhat difficult to read, and I would like to know what is written :

(IMG:[i1241.photobucket.com] http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg510/KirbyDances/atogaki.jpg)

More precisely, here is what I read :

and I would like your opinion on these points :
- title : no problem
- first paragraph : how would you pronounce 外谷 (Sotoya ?) and 上野部 (Kaminobe ?) ?
- second paragraph : no problem
- third paragraph : do you read 数件 (I think that's what makes more sense, but I would like a second opinion) ? And there's a completely erased character before 人, what would you put there (I'd say it's 犯人, but as before, I would prefer to have a second opinion to be sure) ?

I think, in this situation, both of "外谷" and "上野部" are fictional place names
(I mean both of them aren't in 埼玉県).

Then, "上野部" seems to be pronounced as "Kaminobe" (as 上野部 in 静岡県磐田市).
But, not sure how "外谷" will be pronounced as, "Totani", "Toya" or "Sotoya".

Yea, "数件" and "二人"(means both of 容疑者).

Oh, I see... I hadn't thought of 二人... Now that you say it, it makes more sense and I think I somehow see 二 a little.
Thanks, I'll give you karma when it's charged up.

Hello,

I've having problems with the big bubble in the following picture:

(IMG:[80.imagebam.com] http://80.imagebam.com/download/74TKit_l-2IY22i4U9wPsQ/20779/207780757/pen.jpg)

Especially it's about the first part:
"飲み会いにドタキャンした子が居て本来その子がやるはずだった" (hope I read it right)

I'd translate it as something like "that fellow cancelled the party which he was originally supposed to do"
Yeah, it makes no sense.

On the context: The girl had previously kicked the guy (her senpai) with the knee, 'cause she was totally drunk and had no idea what she was doing and is now kinda explaining the situation to him.
The "子" refers to the alcohol, which made her do various things.

Hope someone can help!

That phrase describes コスプレ, not the party or whatever. Rather, only the latter half of that phrase specifically desribes The first part is just another step in the situation.

First of all, thanks for the reply!

Ok...
From what you said I guess "飲み会いにドタキャンした" refers to "子", so it'd be something like "the kid/fellow who cancelled the party in last minute", but it doesn't really makes that much sense to me.

"本来その子がやるはずだったコスプレ"... I'd translate it as "the cosplay that the kid was originally supposed to do".
But that wouldn't fit if it's the alcohol who's the kid.

Here's the link to the page: https://e-hentai.org/s/0262031d1a/470459-197 (it's in the fjords)

Could you please help me with the specific translations here?

Very fast, not supposed to be a good translation, just to give you the structure (or what I think is the structure) :

飲み会いにドタキャンした子が居て : There was that "child" who cancelled the party at the last minute,
本来その子がやるはずだったコスプレ : the cosplay he (?) was originally supposed to do...
を無理やりやらさせて : ... he made me (?) do it against my will
... : ...

QUOTE(PeopleDon'tDanceNoMore @ Aug 26 2012, 17:45) *

What??
Seconded. I don't see how 子 can mean alcohol here (except if the alcohol was supposed to cosplay, which could be an interesting plot)...

Maybe I can guess what mrmuk's question means lol.

"子" means not only "kid".
Often word "子" is used for "known person who is in same or younger generations, but not very intimate".

Well, in this context, seems that "子" is same to "後輩"(in same bubble), and not a boy (she said so).

Yes. Add が居て and it's "There is/was (that kind of) kid".

I honestly have no idea how you're connecting alcohol and kid. 子 is referring to a real person (in the context of the story), we just never see this person.

I generally prefer not to just give the whole answer away, but Kirby's translation is mostly accurate (except "he" (she really) in the last part is not actually the person that cancelled, it's just "they" (lit. "I was made to cosplay")).

Thanks a lot for the replies, now the translation is much clearer to me! :-)

So this kid/子 is just someone from her 'drinking' group, who just didn't show up, it seems.

The reason I associated 子 with alcohol is because of the following panels:

[www.imagebam.com] (IMG:[thumbnails83.imagebam.com] http://thumbnails83.imagebam.com/20782/c9dd20207814047.jpg) [www.imagebam.com] (IMG:[thumbnails82.imagebam.com] http://thumbnails82.imagebam.com/20782/e39ba7207814050.jpg)

These panels came just after the mentioned panel.

He asks if this kid is some guy.
And she replies no and in the next panel she says that she's no good with alcohol, so I thought it had to do something with the mentioned kid, since the senpai asks about the 'kid' and she replies no, it's not a guy, and then continues explaining further. I was kinda searching the connection between her 'no' reply and her explanation of her being no good with alcohol. So in short I thought it was like this:
kid=guy? -> no -> kid=alcohol!

For now, this is what I think the connection is:
Maybe the senpai wonders why she would use so much violence on the kid and that's why he asks if it was a guy, since it would be still kinda acceptable/reasonable if she kicked a guy that hard (but not if it was a girl). And then she replies like "no, it was actually a girl on whom I wanted to kick hard, but please listen, that was just because I was drunk and didn't know what I was doing! Don't think that I always do that!"
So in short:
kid=guy? -> no, kid=girl -> but listen, alcohol was the reason why I did this!

If this what I said doesn't make sense, please correct me.

Thanks again for the replies, which really helped :-)

Yeah, that's the wrong chain of logic. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) It's, "is the kid a guy?" (since he's a guy) -> "no", "it's the alcohol!" (that's why she attacked him...a guy, not a girl). The alcohol is just the reason she couldn't tell he wasn't the right gender...

Well...

1: 駿河志乃 said she kicked because she thought she has found "後輩" which caused her "forced cosplay".
2: Then, 片岡勇 wondered if "後輩" is a male because she misidentified him as "後輩".
3: 駿河志乃 explained the misidentification was because of alcohol.

Ok...so the alcohol 'caused her so mix up the gender...
I kinda get the feeling there's a lot here which is hidden between the lines;
I'd have never come to that conclusion^^

So, thanks a lot for explaining it to me! :-)

I'm having more trouble here. There are two speech bubbles here, connected to each other.

Kore ga otoko no kanrishoku nara suppadaka no dogeza o motomeru tokoro daga...

I think it goes "If this man/these men is/are your manager/managers..." but that's probably wrong. The rest of it is threatening, as if "they are about to demand that you strip naked and bow down before them. However..."

Mā on'na no mi dewa sōmo ikumai

This part I can't figure out, there are a lot of expressions at play in this sequence. I think he's saying something about a woman's body is unlikely to do something.

Help me out please!

As PeopleDon'tDanceNoMore, pointed out, I give the answer instead of hinting how to find it. I'll try not to give the whole answer away this time...

I guess the context is the same as in the other thread (a woman that works in management made a blunder and is asked to apologize).

男の管理職 could be translated as "management by a man" (of course, it's very badly formulated, but I'm trying to stay close to the Japanese) so I would say something like "If a man had done the same mistake..."

そうもいくまい means something like "this may not be possible", I don't think you'll have trouble translating the rest of the sentence now.

I don't know the context then not sure but seems like this:

これが男の管理職なら素裸の土下座を求める処だが...
I'd request you to kneel and bow deeply with stark-nakedness if you are male manager...

But seems I can't because you are female.
(...means "you don't want to become naked because you are female.")

BTW, have you ever seen this lol?

Adding a bit to Kirby's response...

Basically it's いかない. And 身 can mean position...or perspective, sort of (like putting yourself in someone else's shoes).

I'm pretty bad with names. Is there any way you would spell this name other than Farusu?

Hmm... I'm not sure this is a name... It could be "farce" or "phallus"... As a name, maybe "Fals" ?

Edit : maybe more context would help ?

I'm pretty sure it's a name. She's referred to as ファルスさん.

She's an adventurer who gets a parasite from a monster that makes her grow a penis, and she goes to a clinic to get it checked out. This is the first page they mention her name.
