They're bounties, the whole fragging system is set up so whoever gets in first (or, if you catch the bounty poster's atention before they accept, maybe does the best) gets the bounty. Of course, the "first" condition isn't going to excuse work done shoddily in the name of a quicker turnaround.

As far as I'm concerned, there's no single editor for this stuff, especially not more than a chapter or two removed from the latest chapter currently being worked on. And in any case, no one really has any power beyond being able to say "I want this". If someone else wants it too, then you just have to be able to do it quicker (but still well) and/or better. There's no call for trying to scare people away.

Considering the frustration KCzz15 has expressed with redraws in ep 25/26, I suspect he might appreciate help with those (of course, he can also answer better himself). On the other hand, he's probably already working on 27, so you may not want to start on them straightaway in case he's already got some of them done. (Or maybe you could just start backwards.)

Please don't use verbiage like 'stealing' at the phase where you're just finding out your intentions. I could understand its usage if it was well known you were to edit, and then someone else somehow changed that but not when he only announced his intention at the time when nothing was said about these far-off chapters.

Don't worry, I'm the type to finish something once he starts. I've preemptively done the cleans, it's just the typesetting that is dull and takes time by comparison.

It's just, this is basically my source of revenue, my job if you will. Either I defend it, or I lose it. I'd much rather not just roll over and let others pull the chair out from under me, without a fight at least.

Ok, few things in order. I have no problem with an editor or translator claiming he wants to do x projects in the future, but we had people who made such solemn promises and disappeared before. Two-three weeks of inactivity and one will loose all such claimed and promised things.

I am totally fine with KCzz15 editing the rest of the series, he was the first to claim that he wants to do so and he started work on it already, but I agree with Dlag about being friendly to new editors (Zumato: check here for new editing jobs, and also see recent comments in the other project threads in this subforum; I've several promised translations with no editors lined up yet, so if you want to reserve a spot, post in the relevant thread). KCzz15: please accept all the editing bounties and try to renew the claims if they expire, this should secure your "job" for the future.

I am also fine with splitting the bounties if editors want to cooperate, faster and better edit jobs are certainly welcome. But that's up to editors to decide.

I intend to give you an iron clad guarantee at the same time that I hand in c27, a way that should remove any doubts for you that I fully intend to go all the way with this, come hell or high water.

I've no problems with new editors, indeed I've no problem with any editors that don't try to make my existing work null and void. If you check back, I've been as cordial as I could be with Zumato. He just suddenly popped out of nowhere without a prior word said and said that he was working on a bounty that I had claimed.

If it's just a practice and a newcomer in need of help, then all he needs to do, indeed all he ever needed to do was just ask me or any other editor for help or advice, or ask if it's okay first.

My apologies for causing trouble in your thread. My only intention was to practice while trying to have some fun. The only page I posted was one that was asked to be attempted; Granted it was about two weeks ago...but was asked nonetheless.

One other thing:
Are there any experienced redrawers present?
I've not touched panel 1 of page 32 yet because it ideally needs redrawing and I never actually learned how to do that properly, would anybody care to try before I go screwing it up? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'm basically doing this to see if I could translate this series. I've read them in the past and wish to give back to the community. Maybe I'll do future translations for this series if it goes well.

Also, can someone direct me to the post in this 30pg thread about some guidelines for TL? Do I have to translate SFXes into english, or literal translation?

Just a heads up, I've a mini status update in the works for what the progress there is, but not right this second since it's half 1 in the morning, etc.


There is one simple(?) thing that anybody who's interested can do that would help me greatly though if they wanna try:

I'm looking for any and all instances of pages in volume 4 that need redrawing or double pages that need stitching together at all.

The ones I know about:
6+7 double page
18+19 double page
32 panel 1 redraw
62+63 double page
86+87 double page
126+127 double page

Asking because I thought I'd found them all, then I spotted 126/127 only today by accident that I'd somehow missed seeing so now I'm not so sure (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I want to get them done all in one go, the absolute last thing I want is to be typesetting chapter 30 or whatever a month from now, and only then discover a redraw or something that needs doing.
