for newer plays the PL of custom monsters is too low. ive noticed everyone who likes the new monsters is somewhere around level 130+ i'm playing a level 35ish character right now and lets just say.

i started using 1h, shield, light armor it worked for maybe 15 levels, then i turned off legacy encounters and got g-raped repeatedly.

where a legacy(NPM) would normally deal 3-4 damage the player customs(PM) were going 10+ a turn. later i switched to heavy armor and now at level 35 im getting the same problem, the fire fox (highest hitting NPM) deals around 12 where as the player made giants i ALWAYS encounter are dealing closer to 20+ often they will match if not surpass the damage dealt by mind raper and blue hedgehog

i can barely survive 20+ rounds in a grind fest before i'm depleted of items

getting through the arena is about 50-50 for the level 30 challenge since rather than facing 7 waves of regulars and 1 uncommon your facing 7 waves of monsters where often at least one is as powerful as an uncommon and 1-2 uncommon strength enemies in the last round

I've also noticed a few things while playing
1) light armor is useless you'll never survive with it as a melee-and it has too high interference as a mage
2) you out level your gear in no time and don't have the credits to replace it. i complete my item world for all my items usually gets me 1 level, completing the daily arena challenges to get new armors gets me another, and grinding to get the proficiencies/item drop i need will usually level me 4-5 more times a day.
3) if your low level and miraculously manage to get your damage reduction high enough to negate hits you still take 1 damage, when your dealing with 8 mobs don't have a heal spell and under 100hp it doesn't take long for that to end your grind

in short the low level game balance of HV need a major rework.

I'd also like to point out the giants and dragons specifically take MANY more turns to kill greatly reducing the effectiveness of second winds(making the HP ones useless since the time it takes to kill a giant you'll lose more hp than second wind heals [roughly 1/3 hp for me]). with a crushing weapon anyhow

Wait... so it's not just in my head? Others are having this problem too? Wow. There should be a point where custom monsters should be counted as 'uncommon class' monsters, as I was (and still am) getting mauled, not by the Manthra, Mind Raper, Apathetic Canuck, Blue Hedgehog, or Zombie Cow, but by the goddamn giants/dragons/arachnids! If changing class isn't possible, what about giving us a random consumable or some credits when OUR monster(s) perform a killing blow, or a slightly better quality item drop rate for every custom monster you kill? Cause I am running out of potions to use in the item world, and I'm on NORMAL. I am desperately trying to raise enough credits to pay the difference between arena rewards, and consumable costs. The potions just will not drop for me at all, all I get are these F***ING crystals, that I have to collect huge amounts of, to level up my 'monster', THAT'S NOT GETTING ME ANYWHERE. I can't even sell the goddamn things (2 credits apiece? ... What would that be with golden handshake, I wonder-- oh yeah, no change). (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I just wish the goddamn item drops would happen more often. I haven't seen a scroll since last year. I moved from Dual wield to 2handed, just to live a little longer, only to find out it's not any better. I changed my armor from silk and leather, to chainmail and power, just to live longer. THE INTERFERENCE IS TRYING TO MURDER ME. And it's winning (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/faint.gif) . I loved the thought of making my own monster-- At first. Now I think it needs a little work. (or an option to turn off custom monsters from appearing-- at a small cost (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) )

ive got average or better heavy armor, of level either close to mine or higher,

weapon
shield
helmet
armor
gloves
leggings
leggings


my stats are:

STR: 45 7 1
DEX: 35 3 0
AGI: 29 2 0
END: 34 0 0
INT: 14 0 1
WIS: 24 0 2

and crappy gear doesnt change the fact the player monsters COUNT as common(drops, xp value, spawn rate, credirts dropped) and appear often yet are more powerful that the uncommons.

i also have 49 AP (37 from level 1 from shrine and 11 from trainer)
adept learner 22
ability boost 11
scavenger 4
quater master 2
archeologist 1

and as of 05:40 GMT 2 credits and 4 hath

You already reached a level where you want to use some evade gear over some heavy pieces.

And don`t use a club. A Rapier or a nice bleeding Axe would help you kill faster = less damage taken.

Listen, they aren't more powerful, they just have more crushing mitigation, and no I wouldn't use any club until x-attack or 1vs1 battles. slashing and piercing weapons at least give some extra dmg even agaisn't the monsters they're resistant to.
That's your first problem.

2nd problem is the gear is crap, you can't judge only for the prefix, there's many other factors that define something is good or not, and chainmail, buckler ,leather, cotton are the worse kind of gear in the game.

3nd problem is the stats, END should be at least at your level, and you're have low AGI/WIS.
It's recommended to have STR/DEX/AGI/END to your level, and WIS above INT.

still looking for a nice axe of the vampire but i don't have credits,for now the club lets me man handle MBP, Dalek and Mithra even though it takes longer to kill them... they die without dealing me any damage cause they are stunned the whole time.

I reported this once. I thought it was a bug, but now that I read the changelog again, it doesn't seem to be the case. or so I thought....

A quick search shows that the last time anyone reported a Hulk drop was on the 30th of January. For sword chucks, it was the 28th. Both turned up a few times a week before that point. In other words, it looks like they went out with HV 0.5.0, though there's no mention of it in the release notes.

I've never posted Hulk armor drops but I always saved them. But I also don't recall a Hulk or chuck drop since this last patch, all my chucks are "prism" so they are all old.

They were mostly in there as a joke in the first place, and they didn't fill any particular niche. And seeing as 8-bit Theater finished like more than a year ago, it kinda outplayed its role. (Incidentally, I never noticed before now that they put up an epilogue.)
