for us low levels monsters do yet too much damage

You can't do any miracles with crappy gear, at your level I could already finish all arenas without items...

I was melee at your level, I only abandoned melee almost completely after level 130 when I got AF. Even so, after filling the OC bonuses, I could always clear without item any challenge up to trio.

What are the best ways to grind profs for the following profs:

Supportive
Curative
Deprecating

I take it the best way to grind Forbidden and Divine profs are to get Condemn and Soul Reaper and go into a Crude item world on cake or something like that and just constantly cast Condemn/Soul Reaper, right?

Load up on crappy MP items, go into a low arena, spam (Shield, Weaken, Cure), rinse and repeat. Non-damage spells are easy because they don't kill things.

Otherwise, your best bet is to go into a crappy IW on high difficulty and spam Condemn/Reaper. Wear defense armor rather than mage armor so you can focus on spamming spells instead of worrying about taking too much damage and taking a hit to your damage potential is desirable.

I did a bit of run as mage today, mostly for staff profiency, and after using thunder AoE spell couple of times while on mana concelase, I can see why it's fun being mage. Alas, averaging about 35-50 damage per hit but it's a start. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I leveled up in a matter of days rather than a matter of weeks playing as a mage. Part of it is because the mobs fall faster in a group rather than hitting them one by one the way you do dual wielding. I love that Wrath of Thor spell, holy crap. I don't watch TV anymore while I'm doing it out of boredom, I actually pay attention to what I'm doing and have some fun watching them fall.

I didn't try to power level or anything, I just played normally but I could definitely get my arenas done much easier and it was much more interesting to play. HV doesn't suck so much playing like this but man, my wrists are sore pressing keys. I actually played some IW and I didn't hate it.

What is the best combo of Deprecating spell?

silence is better than spark of life?

the best deprecating spell for your level is weaken... but for bosses and single monsters slow is even better

there is no best combo or which spell is better than which...

it all comes down to your own maging strategy...

maging strategy/?i thought everyone's doing the same thing give or take 10%

the core strategy is always aoe but even among aoe there are a number of different playing style... pure fire, pure elec, elec+fire combo, pure soul, etc.

the same applies to deprec... some use poison to slow regen, some use poison+slow to slow regen even further, some use weaken to reduce physical damage, some use bewilder to reduce magic damage, some use silence, etc. most of these deprec spells cannot be simultaneously in effect on a single monster so there is some pros and cons to each of them.

sparks and silence also have their pros and cons and some mages prefer sparks while others prefer silence.

Tactic: mindless targetting a monster and kill the entire group.
The only strategy is your gear, proficiency and abilities.

No, before 4.0 I could clear any arena challenge with full crude plate (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

btw after three cakeworlds of 290 rounds and more, i bring my staff prof to 50 and elemental to 40
using only a elemental piece and some gossamer phase shit

damn cleared all arenas for my level in hard in 20 minutes with a total of 15 greater mana potion (some of them wasted only for prof)

everything except minibosses go down in two shots, and i'm only at half of the way

Uh, I have 220 extra AP and a full Ability Tree. The others around my level are in the same boat.
