You know what is fun that year and half ago mages were considered UP and they were making fun of me trying to play without phys damage

I'm nearly Lv40 (Elec1)

1. Should I go Holy or Fire2 or just wait for Elec2
2. My type is now sword/mage (str33/int28), should i focus on mage now or wait until about 90-100.

Ok, my advice considering how recently I was at your level, only spend ability points on fire and electric aoe spells, MAX them, especially electric.

Also, while you want the elemental rating that's part of the third block of each elemental ability tier, during combat, you should mostly use the first tier spell of that damage type, to avoid spending too much mana.

as for the other element types, Wind, Cold, and Holy won't help you through low levels...so unless you have a ton of extra ability points lying around, don't waste any on those spells.

Electric damage in particular is by far the best damage type for general mob slaying. (best strategy is to cast thunderstorm first, then inferno, and clean up with magic missile.

also, you don't need your strength to be that high. I kept my strength and dexterity 10 levels below the other 4, and I kept my intelligence 2 levels higher than the other 3.

I could still get to level 50 grindfest using a 2h sword.
