QUOTE(hyl @ Jan 27 2011, 18:52) i think that i have paid for over 150k for a good one twice (the 2nd was auctioned later and it was better (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) I best start saving up (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) It should only take about 10 days with the credits I already have. I'll create a WTB thread offering 150K for one once I've got the credits and see how it goes.

Hmm, I'll have to be careful of what I'm buying. I don't actually know what a good staff is. What do you think this one is worth: http://hentaiverse.org/pages/showequip.php...;key=d31e63a245

you should find a staff that has a MDM somewhat close to 50 when the staff is lvl 250. Try using the equipment calculator if you are not sure about staves [ www.starfleetplatoon.com] http://www.starfleetplatoon.com/~cmal/equi...VEquipCalc.htmledit: it also helps that the staff has decent elemental prof, the EDM of your element and PAB's especially int edit: that staff that you posted is ok but not that good This post has been edited by hyl: Jan 27 2011, 22:20

I'll probably be auctioning this one off in my next one. Some of its stats are kinda on the low end, but its got max ET (post-nerf, anyway).

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on your auctions. I only have 18,000C but I think I make about 12,000C a day after equipment sales so it should build up fairly fast.
One question, do mages need spirit? The only thing I use that requires spirit is Spark of Life, so when I noticed my spirit potions were worth about 10,000C at the bazaar I was very tempted to sell them. However, if I'll need them as a mage I best not.

i haven't used spirit potions yet, but i think that the elixers can be usefull when you are higher level for battletoad difficulty

I've sold them all... What's the use of spirit elixirs in battletoads? With soul stone to start ulimited spirit attack works? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I've been to battle toad IW only once, and destroyed around 25Turns like a old dead dog...

QUOTE What's the use of spirit elixirs in battletoads? 7 free turns for half your base spirit bar with spark. Of course, the problem isn't in its initial mana cost, but with the sp it consumes.

Spark of Life: Any attack that would normally kill you leaves you alive with a small percentage of HP. When triggered, the buff is removed, and 50% of the player's base SP is consumed. If the player does not have enough SP remaining, the trigger will fail, and the player will die. Base cost is 50. Base duration is 15. Cloak of the Fallen: Is a proc added when Spark of Life triggers. This effect grants immunity to all damage for a short period of time. Each point put in Spark of Life adds one turn to the duration of this effect. Having one point will make it last for two effective turns, starting with the one where it is triggered.
So it works like: 50% Magic + 50% Spirit = 1 revive + 7 turns invincible? expansive but great^^

it only consumes 1/2 of your base sp. If you have more sp with sp tank you can get revived more times with your sp and then elixers can be usefull

I've been trying to build up my proficiency in staff, but why is it building up so slowly? I've got my deprecating and supportive proficiencies at same level, yet they gain their proficiencies at much faster rate than my staff is building up its own (about 2-3 times faster than staff does).
Even the elemental proficiency, which is at much higher level than staff, still gains about twice as fast as my staff does.

unfortunately there is not really anything you can do to speed up staff prof, except more (boring) grinding

Just buy a crude lvl 200+ item if you haven't got one already, and go in there on cake difficulty with your staff and whack everything to death.
It helps if you wear some armor with high absorb (you won't be casting anyway, other than shield) and bring some lesser mana potions and start casting shield when enemies start hitting through your base absorb. Otherwise, if you got some credits to spare, use an earth-walker set instead which also trains your clothes proficiency and is generally better for grinding.

I usually use earth-walker set then put shield into my autocast and fight in cake.

Staff prof is nightmare, I've starting to build my earth-walker set Or we mages should start a movement called "staff prof should increased as fast as other spells when we using magic missile"! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Change it in 0.4.9 please~~ (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

You should be glad MM even gives staff prof. Used to be the only way was doing melee with a staff. And MM used to cost MP.

Earth-walker is specifically for supportive bonuses (which would in turn boost the shield spell), not for the Physical Absorption, right?
