Correct. Channeling has a chance to proc while ET is active. The actuall chance I don't know. You trigger it by cassting spells on the target with ET active.

I think it uses the same proc chance that you CM with, I'm not too sure though. By the way, I think it's a better idea to use magic missile to try to proc Channeling, because you're trying to conserve mana in the first place, and spamming weaken kinda defeats the purpose.

I want to find a cheap rebuff method...only missile? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) same CM chance ? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
I give up, ET is better

It's like I said. Any spells will do- But the monster your casting on needs to have ET active. By any spells I obviously mean anything that is causing effects/or damage on the monster in question.

Once successful ET will be removed but you have 2-3 rounds Channeling active. NOTE: You can only cast once. If you melee something you also lose the effect.

EDIT: Spelling errors.

To tell you the truth, I hardly ever use ET, mainly because Mana Gems and Second Winds carry me through entire 100+ round Item Worlds without needing to use many items (usually only a single Godly Mana Pot)...so you don't really need to worry much about ET.

is the only way to raise the chance of proc ether theft to get a better staff?

Yes. Process chance on anything process is locked, and can not be improved with leveling. (Leveling will, eventually, add turns, but never increase proc%.)

QUOTE(Raidy @ Jan 26 2011, 04:01) *

you can proc channeling on an enemy? never seen that before. only got channelling by using the mystic gems so far

Yes, but it is not easy. You have to get CM on the monster first, then whack them with the Staff (or Magic Missile them) to get ET, and then attack them with magic, all without them dying before the 2nd magic hit, and then hope it processes.

I personally find mystic gems are more reliable than manually trying to proc Channeling

i proc channeling quite a bit, also can cast magic missile on ET to trigger it, but at higher level i assume its safer to just blast the mob

Actually i sometimes save mana with channeling if a mini boss monster survives my spell and has CM. Then i can try to get channeling and cast regen II or arcane focus (they cost 100+ mana).
And only on the earlier rounds when they won't be hitting you for high damage

At the higher levels, you will need ET to some extent.

The Legendary arenas require it. EoD MIGHT be doable without ever using ET, but would likely require at least a full complement of mana elixirs.

Hmm, I might try it some time for shits and giggles.

Yes, but it is not easy...

It's a balance of difficulty. Higher difficulty means mobs are more likely to survive while you beat them around trying to proc ET, but the time it takes is a great opportunity for some surviving mind raper to crit you with toddlerguro for 10 billion damage.

I've done that before, cept with thunderstorm instead. I proc Channeling at the end of one round, thinking it's not gonna happen anyway, then I cast thunderstorm on the next round before I noticed that Channeling was up. It's honestly so rare, and not worth it at this level, since it only saves me like 20 mana for a buff. I'm sure it'll be much more useful later down the road though

Well, yes. The reward is a spell at 150% for zero mana so, it's not going to be easy.

Yes, when I get a Mystic Gem and don't need it, I just hold onto it, sometimes for tens of rounds.

If it is just one surviving mob, it is okay to go after it. If you have three or more survivors, just drop another AOE on them.

This is the basic tactic, although a staff whack on a mob less then 70% dead works, too. The Staff does less damage so, the mob is more likely to be alive after you attack it.

Well, in the 100s, ET isn't that important and exploiting CM to cast half-price AOEs, instead of getting ET is more common.

You can't proc Ether Theft with Magic Missile. Hitting them with the staff is the only way to get it.
