QUOTE(hyl @ Jan 17 2011, 23:03) *

on what difficulty?

normal easy and hard
depends on the quality of the item

8 superior: in nomal for average of level 120+, in hard for average till level 100
8 greater: in easy for average of level 140+, in normal for fine till level 100

i use the for worst case rule... i had some runs in which i did't get a singlle mana/channelling gem and few mana SW
normally i can get throgh all IW using half of potions, but sometimes i use all them for bad luck

use 4 great + 3 superior mana potion, I can only reach easy 140-150 or normal 100-110...

I must be the weakest mage in this thread= =

I have +30% MDM, +55% magical hit and +49 elemental prof. only have 20 ability fire rating.
Is it too low for a lv68 mage?

Its very hard to be an effective mage if you arent over lvl 100 at the very least.

i have never gotten cure2 and from what i read it has a high mana cost that's not worth it.
edit: Also regen 1 and 2 are probably better mp wise.
Spark is probably essential if you want to fight the gods before you have silence or if you are playing on the higher diffculties

cure II can be useful in arenas and rob, when some random critics whack you on the brink or death and a simple cure will not save you next turn,so you have to die or spark and blablabla

at first i regretted it, then i apprecitated it..
it's only one ap

melee should be getting a buff in the new hv update so those who are currently still on melee might want to hold on for a while...

To get ET first you moster need to have CM proc'ed, and staff proficiency raises the chance of CM.
(I think it raises the turns too, but no one did answered my question, on the ask of experts thread I made few days ago)

I see, regularly get CM but hardly ever get ET, so I thought maybe a change in equipment might help.

I think you're right.

Now I have 40 staff prof with a 36% 2T ET Staff, here's a high chance I can get a 3T ET effect. When I'm only 25 staff prof it's always 2T.

Training the staff prof isn't hard, but too too too boring!
They should have the same chance as the spells, not the weapons...

BTW...Does anyone knows the chance rate of this state? I've tried to use weakness to trigger it, but never got the channeling.

If you cast a spell on a target affected by Ether Theft, there is a chance to proc:

Channeling: You are channeling the mystic forces of the ever-after. Your next spell is powered up by 50%, and costs no MP.
o Damage and direct healing spells are 50% stronger.
o Deprecating magic and supportive magic (including Regen) last 50% longer.
o Offensive spells have a 100% hit chance and cannot be interfered with.

I think it uses the same proc chance that you CM with, I'm not too sure though. By the way, I think it's a better idea to use magic missile to try to proc Channeling, because you're trying to conserve mana in the first place, and spamming weaken kinda defeats the purpose.
