(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Here's what you need to do, you can fight them at LV 50 with no problem. 1) Cast weaken. 3) Use Rapier. 3) Proc PA. 4) Poison. 5) Spirit Attack. 6) Continue poke the boss to death. 7) ???? 8) PROFIT If fighting Manbearpig, bring 1 Scroll of the god for spirit attack.

You forgot you can use infusions for max effect, and that joke is a little old now.

Hmmm...I think I got the strategy for the legendaries and the bosses mixed up. I think I'll follow this strategy when facing the bosses: Have dual wield rapiers with highest chance of procing PA. 1) Use scroll of the gods immediately when battle begins. 2) Cast Weaken/Poison 3) Attack until proc PA (healing as needed and recasting Weaken) 4) Spirit attack 5) If that doesn't kill it, repeat steps 2-4...

You could do that, but it's not needed at all.. I fought them using LV 2 Weaken and Axe to bleed all 4 of them to death.. it's a terrible and stupid strategy, but even so, I beat all of them without much problem.

Why DW Rapiers? Bleeder/Rapier is faster. You can also use sword/shield if you cant take the damage. Protip: Don`t use Heavy gear. i did this when I was young (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

That is why I'm working towards getting some Kevlar or similar Light Armor. You are also right in that dual wield Axe/Rapier is best strategy....stupid me, why didn't I think of that? Would this Axe do as a good axe to use against them: Fine Prism Axe of Balance? Is that good enough to do the job? Cheers!

I find that this is still on topic because we are discussing a part of HV...thus the Official HV Chat thread...anyways, if that is what people want, that is what I will do, but I figured that since it was chatting about the minigame, it flowed right along with the theme for this thread...

QUOTE(buktore @ Nov 28 2010, 11:52) @ cmal When you're melee (if you still do..), with the exception in some extreme cases (EoD, RoB, ETC), do you still use regular DW or 2H other than for the reason of gaining prof? If the answer is NO*, the idea that Niten can gain prof indeed might actually broke the game. Indeed, a good Niten set is hard to find, but Niten set itself isn't really that hard to find IMO. If Niten can gain prof, it will easily made regular 2H obsolete since it's not that hard find a mediocre Katana with equal or better stats than most regular 2H, than you can just slap any wakizashi on to offhand and you get something that is superior than normal 2H in every way. My reason that it broke the game is not because it will be more powerful than other style, but it make other style obsolete. (IE: normal 2H) That's what I'm trying to say. But anyway... as I said earlier, ANYTHING that would make melee more powerful is ALWAYS a good thing right now, even if it broke the game.. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) *EDIT: Change YES to NO. I think only Tenb can definitively say how rare a complete Niten set is by looking at the equipment table. I can't say its rare like eths or phase, since I recently threw away about half a dozen components and I've still got two complete pairs in my inventory. I only do IW these days, and I'm melee about half the time.

I remember hearing people said "ADM * isn't really matter that much at low LV" which I'm agreed with... Now, I'm at LV 118, I put on my ADM Rapier & Dagger once again after I stop using it for a long time now... I think the ADM seem to start working its magic right at now my current LV, it seem to work much better than how I remember it months ago. It's a good sign, I guess. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) * ADM = Attack Damage Multiplier.

ADM is, as the name implies, a multiplier, so the higher the value its multiplying, the better the results. At lower levels, you need a ridiculously high ADM to get any significant effect if your normal attack damage is low. At my level, with over 100 ADM things get interesting.

What difficulty do you usually play IW on and how good of drops do you get from doing them? Cheers!

QUOTE At my level, with over 100 ADM things get interesting. Why must it be 100? can't it be over 99? or do you think there's a difference...? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) Call me crazy, but I have some weird believe that there's some kind of hidden bonus when ADM reach a certain values; I mean, there's some game that have this mechanic within them, for example: value that can divided by 10 like 10, 20, 30, and so on, or divided by 5 or other numbers. Maybe I probably just crazy after all... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

Usually Normal or Hard since those are the easiest to auto-pilot. Occasionally I'll go harder if I've got time. Drops are the same shitty drops everyone else gets. I just get more of them. I just have over 100 ADM when I'm using Niten (or even just my katana as 2H) or my ADM DW pairs. So yeah, you're a loony.

I am starting to think that separate "Expert" threads for particular topics and a general thread for generic advice would be better.

really i'm starting to understand your frustration guys... we need to put a not-so-basic guide in wiki for the first 50 levels melee and magic

It's better for you to learn the game by yourself, it's more fun that way.
What will be within such a guide anyway? the game is nothing but Equipments and Grinding.. and most of the known games mechanic are already in the wiki.

I disagree that a guide would be a good idea. Telling people exactly what to do is stupid. Its better to give advice and let them figure out what works for them. Not everyone can have hundreds of thousands of credits to train or buy equipment and perks with. Not everyone has the good fortune of being around when the going was good. A guide like that has no place in HV.
