Would a level 4 staff with proc 2 be any use? (note: I am leveling it up, it was level 4 when I got it).

Ah, I was probably 126ish at the time but I'm getting the exact same results currently at 130.

This is the Estoc I got from Cmal... I think... Anyway, It's level 219 I'm level 70 at time at this post, it has 6 turns which I only get 4 of. I'll let you know when I get 5 turns with it.

Huh, this is kinda interesting.

This staff that miwabe posted scales to 2 turns for me @ level 258. So sometime in the next 4 levels it should gain a turn for me.

Hmm, I also have a 2 turn destruction staff I've been leveling. I wonder if it'll hit a third turn at some point before/at 262.

it will happen at 260, i've got one that went from 2-3 when i hit 260. so if you have a lower level staff with 40% 2 turn it may get 3 turns @260

Hmm, that's good to know. 1 more level then and we'll see. It's only 28% 2 turn though, since it's my "lots of damage, don't care about ET" staff. I wish I could mishmash the destruction staffs I have into 1 ultimate staff (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

great staffs seem to be a pain to get, i still use some of hitokiri84's that i've picked up from the shop

Finally, some useful information. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Which is not to say that some of the rest of the numbers posted here might not also prove useful when I do the sums, of course. Though mainly what they seem to be showing is that I only have about four different base durations here. Let's hope it's enough...

Somewhat delayed update. Although we missed a few levels, the numbers are accurate enough to show that something weird is going on - namely, that the base durations don't seem to go up in regular steps. Here's what we've got so far.


Staff 0 (not listed): 1 turn at level 257. Base 0.5 (assumed) to 0.656.
Staff 2: 1 -> 2 turns at level 159-161. Base 0.831 to 0.837.
Staff 10: 2 -> 3 turns at level 260. Base 1.087 to 1.089.
Staff 4: 1 -> 2 turns somewhere between levels 46 and 60. Base 1.154 to 1.220.
Staff 1: 2 -> 3 turns at level 159-161. Base 1.385 to 1.397.
Staff 11 (pre-nerf): 2 -> 3 turns between levels 45 and 81. Base 1.779 to 2.041.

Seen in Item World thread: Level 191 staff giving 2 turns at level 56 (no link given, unfortunately). Base 1.172 to 1.279. Possibly the same base value as staff 4.

Everything else I listed seems to be the same as staff 2.

Notes: I'm assuming the minimum base duration is at least 0.5, as less than that would give zero duration at low levels. Not that it helps much... And although staff 10 no longer exists, I'm assuming the one mentioned by 4EverLost had identical duration.


The values for staffs 2, 10 and 1 are fairly well defined now. The problem is, I can't make them fit a series of equal sized steps. I do have an alternate theory, though. Note that one staff gains a turn at level 260, and two gain turns at or near 160. Perhaps the base values are chosen so that every staff gains a turn at some level ending in 60? The only slight problem is that the one I saw in the Item World thread doesn't seem to fit, but as I said there's no link, so we can't look at it (unless someone wants to track down the owner and ask if they still have it). It would be interesting to check two things:

1) Do 1 turn staffs still exist above level 260?
2) Where exactly does staff 11 gain a turn? We need players near level 60 to take a look at it.

Note that one staff gains a turn at level 260, and two gain turns at or near 160.

Two? 7 staffs gain a second turn at either 159 or 160. And another one a third turn at either 159 or 160.

I meant two of the staffs I listed in that post. Obviously there's more than one staff in existence that gains a turn at the same level...
