Hello folks,

in the thread New Search Engine a new script was created to make the new reality without page numbers while searching a little less painful.

With the help of FabulousCupcake, OceanS2000 and Qserty the EH-Page-Scrobbler script is born.

The are also the install instructions on GitHub.

Some features are:
- Show GID bar and your current position in it
- The bar have marks for the years
- You can click in the bar to jump to a position
- You can save and load searches with current position
- Show the relative page you where on
- Integrate jump buttons into paginator
- Configurable with the red gear under the bar

One can only hope that it eventually gets rolled into the site code, or at least something like it.

Page numbers specifically aren't necessary, but some sort of navigation is pretty useful and this seems like a simple and reasonably effective way to do it. Just dropping an entire layer of user navigation tools with no replacement is rough.

Any chance this become official?

I hope as well a similar system will be implemented, as I don't see any other solution to the complains, I can see they have added a Jump/Seek between <Prev and Next>, it's quite limited but it's a very good start.

I have absolutely no doubt the current system is magnitudes more performant than the old one (return X results starting from this GID instead of returning like 10k results and paginate them), so there won't be any kind of rollback.

I find the script as efficient as the pagination, even better with the searches bookmark (ty for the dropdown menu improvement!). Too bad we can't do anything for the favorites (when sorted by favorited time) but I'll live with it.

Most users will not make the effort to install tampermonkey, I know something should have been done on the site from the start, but they have a temporary solution 2 clicks away.

The good news is that all the shitposting in the news thread did not stop the devs working on bugfixes, I just saw that right now (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
