This isn't really an entry, but since you're interested in the intersection between music theory and anime songs, these are a couple that I really like:

Banjiya Blues - from Gintama, it has a pretty nice chord progression in the key of... F#, I think? This was one of my favourite songs to play for my ex and it's a little bittersweet for me to listen to now, so I'm handing it over to you.

Kodoku no Shigunaru - the insert song from the final episode of Serial Experiments Lain. Another bluesy one that has a little going on.

Heroes - one of the ARB covers used as ending themes for the second half of Mawaru Penguindrum, under the oversight of the ARB singer. ARB were a little like a Japanese Boston cover band to start with, but their career evolved to span some honest-to-God 70s/80s rock and always holds the wistful feeling of the end of an era, to me. This is one of the covers that matches up to the original - some exceed them, depending on personal taste. I spent a decade trying to find downloads for the ARB discography - it was my internet holy grail, and the only option was really getting someone in JP to buy the CDs and forward them on - but Sony have relented now and they're on Spotify these days.

Oh, and a vaguely Christmassy one if you see the romantic vibes in it: Deep Forest, a song bundled with the ending to Hidan no Aria. The ED was one of the few good things that came out of the show, and I like hearing this one come up on my playlist. Brings back pleasant memories of the early 2010s before everything went to shit.

I took a quick look but no? Looks like all G minor throughout. Except right at the end of outro where it transitions into a G major chord, but I would call it a major G played on G minor. Picardy 3rd? Dunno. Can you give examples of where the key changes happen and between which keys? Since I seek around the choruses and they are pretty much the same notes so there shouldn't be any key change.

Very badly produced song, even in 2005 standard. Familiar name for the composer. Most well known for a bunch of yanaginagi's music.

Round 3 ending in under 1 day, and round Ex is gonna start soon. Kinda looking forward to what everyone will submit. Since round Ex is now somewhat free for all with the BPM requirement removed. Though the 7m requirement is still there.

Anime has nice drawing style (same as Railgun) but the story/content was three seasons of horrid torture. Actually watching Railgun is painful too, and I still have to buy and watch T someday. Never watched any Index; I am too scared.

I like that other song you posted. I avoid music/band/idol-focused anime so I miss out on a lot of songs. That gray short hair is one of the best looking Idolmaster girls I've seen. Are there any figures or hentais of her wearing the other girl's swimsuit?

I found a couple Visual Novel submissions for Round 3 on my hard drive, but I prefer to submit something I actually watched or played. Struggling to find something in team 4 is not as lucrative for me due to my silver star. I'd also be splitting my teams which would further reduce the reward.

Index season 3 is painfully bad. It squeezed more content than both seasons 1+2 into one season.

Not sure but since they are in a unit together, there are bound to be a lot of gay hentai featuring both so it might be possible, you just need to look for it.

That's quite unusual because Nanjolno and KOTOKO have extremely different sound qualities. I'm not much of a vocals guy so I don't know how to describe the difference but Nanjolno sounds like a sensual onee-san while KOTOKO has this tomboy-ish tone to her voice. The composers are often different as well. Nanjolno usually sticks to Yaginuma Satoshi or Kawasaki Kai (fripSide), though she will be graduating from fripSide next April. KOTOKO usually has songs by composers from I've Sound, notably Takase Kazuya and C.G mix, sometimes Nakazawa Tomoyuki. Now, I do remember unfinished is by fripSide's composer so if that's the main song you associate KOTOKO to, that might trip you up.

If it sounds similar but it's not the melody, it's gonna be the chords. Sounds like Canon to me. Not Canon but sounds very similar to Canon.
First 4 bars are uncannily similar between 2 songs, almost the exact same progression (Hesitation Snow is 6m 5 4 1 2m 3m 4 5, the Inuyasha song is 6m 5 4 1 4 1 4 5, 2m and 4 share 2/3 notes, 3m and 1 share 2/3 notes). Then both have +1 semitone key change at the 3rd bar. Then the first word of the 3rd bar is also the same.
Now, technically Hesitation Snow is in minor so it shouldn't be 6m 5 4 1 2m 3m 4 5 but rather 1m 7 6 3 4m 5m 6 7 instead but it's easier to see the similarity when both are put in major.
