Biden hedging on protecting Taiwan sounds ominous. It sounds like he is looking for any plausible excuse to not defend Taiwan once the invasion begins. "Support" is not the same as "Defend". With just "support", Taiwan would lose. Originally, the USA would defend ROC Taiwan if it was invaded as seen in the [en.wikipedia.org] Sino-American_Mutual_Defense_Treaty S-AMDT. But President Jimmy Carter cancelled that treaty in order to have better relations with CCP China. Therefore, the USA has no treaty where it officially is required to defend Taiwan. Some will argue that supporting Taiwan is the same as defending it, but it is clear the new treaty replacing the S-AMDT is nothing like the prior defense treaty.
So Biden can remain bribed by chinese money by simply waffling between "we will defend Taiwan" and "We will not defend but only support Taiwan". If Biden actually wanted to defend Taiwan, he would simply tweak the S-AMDT wording for modern times and submit it to the Senate for treaty debate. The Senate, not the House, is the body that ratifies treaties, so Kamala will never have a deciding vote on a treaty since they require 2/3 majority vote for ratification.
