edit: The Maui disaster was caused by incompetence of multiple key democrat appointments of people without proper experience but they had politics degrees.

The fires weren't even done smoldering when the local government announced an intention to buy up the "fire destroyed land" from the largely native home owning Maui population, with hawaiians reporting that the firefighters were sent out to turn off the water "to help the water pressure" because of the drought they say, and then none of the official alarm systems went off, none of the communications systems were activated and the first thing to die was the local phones/internet connection that supported what the locals call "the coconut hotline" which is used to alert each other of goings on, before anyone had chance to notice there Was a fire. also reports of evacuation routes being closed and Kept closed, and those few who did manage to phone a service their advice verbatim was "stand in the ocean" like all of them lived directly on the beach. i hate when "conspiracy to buy up more native land by using the fact that dead men can't say no to selling it" is so blatent that i can't even pretend it wasn't a conspiracy and then i feel like i need a tinfoil hat, and i'm not even american. then again, greed and fucking the native hawaiians (especially into homelessness) have always been a rather bipartisan issue in america which might be why the opposition hasn't actually called the local politicians and officials out on this one.

in all seriousness tho, those statistics are widely deemed to be misleading Because it runs Per Capita and as a result small populations cause a much larger response along with how it presents the Time data, Norways lead for example is from exactly 1 horrific incident featuring an extremist on an island summercamp that killed 69 people in 2011. if we apply the same logic to say, Planejackings 2001-2010, Plane hijackings by terrorists caused an average of 297.7 deaths per year in the U.S. Safe to say everyone here is smart enough to guess what happened that Wildly broke that statistic.
