The thing is, they still fought. The battles are representing 1 guy fighting another guy. Hence, running isn't an option, because when guy one falls sleep, he'll just be replaced with a different guy. Like if the Ninja fell asleep and the Spartan ambushed him.
Hence, saying "X'll come back when Y's asleep" is stupid in these scenarios.

If it's AK-47 vs. StG 44 the VC might have the edge there. Hard to say. German Flamethrower isn't going to get a lot of wins, I don't think. It's bulky volatile and not really standard equip to begin with. Nerve gas or Panzerfaust would've been a better special. Probably going to be a squad on squad fight again.
