I've read most of the posts in this thread but I'm still confused on how to identify the "new" galleries added after the last time I've been here, the only way I can do it is by watching the last gallery so it doesn't appear bolded the next time I come back. Is there any other way to identify the newly added galleries? Before it used to have a "new" image next to those galleries, now.... what to do?

I've not been able to access the taggroup tool since the update. This is bad because it was a useful tool for tag cleanup to me in the past and also is linked all over the wiki to list slave tags.

Example: The link to slave tags at the bottom here only tells me "No ACL entry".

It would be nice if typing "l:eng" in a search still worked the same as typing in "language:english".

shorthand namespace searches no longer work. I use to use something like this "l:eng" to get english results but now I need to do this, "l:english". I like the old behavior better.

I feel like this is worth bringing up again. At the least, it would be nice to know if this change is intentional. It was nice not having to type the whole language tag in.

I have not seen a response to me original post so I will ask again. Do you know when website staff will add a legacy option for the UI in the settings section? Do we have a time frame for when this feature will be launched? That's fine if people like the new UI but many, including myself don't and didn't sign up for this update.

That's a real shame. It's way more convenient typing the language tags shorthand.

No. At least, not if my intuition and prior attempts at fixing this in CSS are correct.
Ah, sorry, guess I wasn't looking at the full CSS. Just assumed the block you pasted was the whole thing.

All those hardcoded pixel dimensions still suck, but this is better overall. 'nth-child(x)' crap is still going to break whenever the site gets tweaked next, too. It's not a very good way to write CSS selectors generally but sometimes there's no other choice.

Some of that's tenboro's fault (and whomever else did the CSS), though. It's a valiant effort and it seems to work alright for now. Also I write bad CSS pretty regularly so I really shouldn't complain.

BTW, some CSS I wrote to revert the dumb changes to button styling a few months ago. (from my userContent.css file, but you can likely make it or something like it work in a normal user styles program)

Maybe it's my eyes since I'm slightly colorblind, but the bolded timestamp for new galleries really is hard to notice.

new feature is horrible , previous was far better.

also still no option to block guro , poo p , snoot and other semi-alike stuff.

Adding a class on the containers (.gl1t in thumbnail mode or the tr in the other modes) to indicate whether a gallery is "new" or not may alleviate the beef people are having with the lack of the NEW indicator, as it would allow them to customize it with CSS

Curious if the thumbnail placement when hovering your mouse over the gallery names in minimal/compact will be changed? It blocks the category and upload dates, already mentioned this in an earlier post so guess I don't need to go into detail. Aside from this I really have no complaints with the new changes, at least none that I can think of after a few days of browsing. Apparently the other issue I mentioned is how it was actually intended, but it does bother me that I can't do that one key press then autofill anymore. Which is really just a minor nuisance since only a small group of tags start with a three letter word.

So for the thumbnails on minimal/compact, can I suggest making the thumbnails appear on the right of the gallery name instead of the left, or make the thumbnail like it was before the change, or even a combination: give us the option to pick how we want the thumbnail to appear when we hover our cursor over a gallery.

May you please create classes or [developer.mozilla.org] data attributes on the tr tags of the listing with the data of that line?

Reason:
In my case, I want to add some custom markers next to the gallery name for expunged and new.
When I'm seeing the image loaded such as the [ibb.co] example below, it is hard to apply those markers without javascript knowledge, which I barely have.

If you add those information in the tr tag, I can solve the problem with CSS only, which I know how to.

That would still block information on other search results below the one you're hovering over, though. Any chance you're going to fix/revert the 'whole cell' pop-up/linking behaviour or at lest give us an option to turn the feature off? In the old version thumbnails didn't pop up unless you were actually hovering above the title, which meant you didn't auto-hide information when the cursor was anywhere near the middle portion of the page.

This was supposed to be just a UI update. It's not like you completed some total site overhaul.

I cannot say for sure, but it appears to me that many or most of the core mechanisms of the gallery browsing system have been rewritten and upgraded, and it would be very difficult for the old and new systems to co-exist. Keeping a legacy option could be like starting and maintaining a new website.

- Added a thumbnail scaling option under My Settings. This can be used to scale thumbnails on the Thumbnail and Extended gallery views between 75% and 150%.

Yeah, but why are they still the same for the thumbnail frames when the buttons are different? The frame colors are the same on both sites. Check the 'western' category for example - the button is brown/beige in the dark design, but the frame is bright green. The one for 'artist cg' is a dark orange while the frame is bright yellow.

This is not normal. Something is probably wrong at your end if you are still seeing this.

Preferred display mode set in my settings doesn't carry over when going to panda, making it basically useless to set it in the first place.

I like most of this update other than the new icon being removed, it's so much harder for me to tell what's new based on if the publish time is bolded than if it had an icon next to it.
