Remind me how exactly Spike Shield works?

If I have ~Flame Spike Shield~ in my ability screen, then ~fire mitigation~ of enemies would be decreased and enemies would take ~Searing Skin~ effect which reduces ~taken damage by 10%~ and further decrease ~cold mitigation~ too?

If I have electric rapier, what Spike Shield I should use then? Should I use ~Flame Spike Shield~ to decrease total damage from enemies, or ~Storm Spike Shield~ to decrease their mitigation for electric, which my rapier is

Or I am confusing something here? o_o

For 1h, I'd use flame spike anyway, the difference in damage output ain't that huge.

This is what I thought too. Between 10% less damage taking and 25% more damage giving, one should take the former.
In my case, however, I have no problems with clearing arenas in a matter of receiving damage, so maybe if I switch to ~Storm Spike Shield~ I will clear arenas a little faster? Just a random guessing...

at your level defense shouldn't be a problem, so i'd personally pick the damage boost. it's the same reason because you usually drop Protection/Warding armors for Slaughter ones.

but if you want a clear answer, just do a few arenas for a couple of days with both spikes and check yourself. in term of turns, not time.

That is what I intended to do. =)

UPD: And I can say, without any deep testing and measuring than at least it feels like I clearing arenas faster with ~storm spike shield~ than with ~flame spike shield~.

Would it be possible to change every day to match the daily elemental magic bonus? In my experience the day that my spike shield is buffed seems slightly faster. Does this make sense?

with 6 different styles, yep. don't think it's worth the expense though.

I think he was implying by using the infusion corresponding to the buffed element.
Which is probably a fine tactic.

How much raw damage on a weapon would be needed to outdamage an Ethereal in most cases?

Why would you want to outdamage it, though?

You can just hollowforge any non-ethereal weapon to start dealing void damage. Problem solved.

erm... what advantage would a mage gain from infusion which aren't sync-ed with his element? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

No advantage. I was talking about melee, just theoretical, as I am not playing melee myself. Just trying to help melee players to optimize. Infusions will be useful for melees

Level 10 potency is a pain in the ass to get. I wouldn't want to do it unless I wouldn't be replacing my weapon for a long time or soulfused it.

Is there ever a point where TT&T RoB is ever worth doing (other than the first time for credits)?

You mean without a good flow of bloodtokens aka at least tokenizer II? I doubt it.

depends on potencies, qualities, rolls... assuming you have a decent Leg Katana you can still afford 5-6 levels, if your waki is a non-slaughter peerless. even more, if your waki isn't

I would say this depends most of all on the credits you can spend. If you can afford the money, then it is the right time.
