QUOTE(Scremaz @ Jul 17 2017, 16:19) reached the 1269 hath threshold. wondering if there is any good investment for a melee char. i already own: - VV - Enigma Energizer - Thinking Cap - IA4 - DD not interested in Crystarium, LGBD, Extra Strength, Dark Descent, Coupon Clipper
I assume you already have it, but you didn't list it so, Postage Paid. A more serious suggestion Free-Flowing Dust.

How about investing in Resplendent Regeneration?

you could go the Token route, that will keep you occupied for a few years. Or climb up the DD tree to AssEater. Forces of Nature would be very slightly usefull. Or else: Go Mage! (you hear the song in your head, don't you?)

Is Overpower at all useful? Got Butcher on the first try followed by 4 consecutive levels of Overpower and now I'm not sure what to do. Most likely I'll end up with only 4 levels of Butcher and 5 levels of Overpower on it.

Well that depends on what you are playing. Because i can remember writing some peoble that it can be usefull with DW, but as 1H you dont care at all and it is just waste of IW effort.

I'm playing one handed heavy. I know that the perfect IW is Butcher 5, Fatality 4, but is Overpower just completely useless? I mean at least it's better than Swift Strike considering my burden would eat that up.

Ehm no, the perfect IW is Butcher 4, Fatality 5. And yes i think it is completely useless. Also dont think too bad about BUR, someone like me would gladly take another 10 BUR cheerfully. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) This post has been edited by Uncle Stu: Jul 18 2017, 16:39

Play on Hard until you get better equipment. Also, it's never a good idea to mix armor types. Choose either only light armor OR only heavy armor. Otherwise you don't get any bonuses from the armor abilities.

I have an artic katana (ADB 30%) with butcher 4 and overpower 2. Do you think it would be better if I use my amnesia shards and aim for butcher and swift strike?
By the way, I use light armor

I thought Butcher 5 was better. Almost decided to reforge my rapier (B4F5) until I read this

Because Fatality gives you 2% Bonus crit damage and is also except for using savage armor the only way to increase bonus crit damage. So if i have to decide more BCD or a bit ABD that is more or less a no-brainer. Dont you think? And i would highly suggest to keep your rapier as it is and be happy with it. Because i would. Is there a consensus for a minimum effective proficiency for non-imperil [holy] play?
I'm using a staff with 34% counter resist, so I should be aiming for level*1.66 divine prof, right?

Consensus for Holy non-imperil play is prof factor 1.0. That's level*2 divine prof. Edit: counter resist has nothing to do with that. It's about mitigation. This post has been edited by DJNoni: Jul 18 2017, 23:13

Pretty much, anything less than that will be suboptimal. Obviously as long as you're reasonably close to 1.0 everything works, but go a lot lower and it starts to be visibly worse. 0.66 prof factor is already >10% slower than 1.0 (and costs more because 4+1 means more phazons). This is reversed in SG arenas where the lower prof factor you have the faster you go.
