QUOTE(HaliZorat @ Nov 29 2011, 10:01) 2. Spending less time on HV recently due to other stuff and increasingly high amounts of EXP needed to level have greatly slowed my leveling, so I probably won't reach it for a while, but I might as well ask now: As a Dual-Wield player, should I bother with End of Days if I do not have Ethereal Weapons? Going though 52 Legendaries does not sound fun when they resist your damage types and I don't really plan on using my already limited supply of Holy/Dark Infusions...
If you only want exp and don't care about trophies, then don't bother with it. But if you want trophies then indeed you should bother. For DW, I'm not sure if an axe would work... Then again, I really recommend getting 1 eth club, even a very shitty one would do; I have tons of them if you want one...

QUOTE(HaliZorat @ Nov 29 2011, 11:01) A few questions:
1. I think I saw from some post that as the number of attribute boosts from artifacts that you have increases, the chances of getting a boost decreases, and in return, the chances of getting an ability point goes up. Is this true? - 1a. If yes, does that mean that the chances of getting an EDrink, Hath, or Crystals remains constant? - 1b. If no, what goes up in return?
Patch 0.5.1 QUOTE - The chance to obtain Ability Points from the Shrine now also depends on how many stat-ups you've gotten from it. -- The chance caps at today's value with max stat-ups, but is up to five times larger for people who don't have any. -- (Yes, it would make more sense to actually count the number of AP received, but this way took way less effort.) Quite sure it's the opposite as you've thought. When you get more attribute boosts, the chance of getting AP decreases. As for what chances' going up....I don't have any statistics, but I would say it's the god damn crystals, because it will make the most sense.

Seriously?!? Wouldn't that go against the argument that at high levels you'd get so much spare AP from artifacts that training ability boost isn't worth it since higher level players would have more boosts and therefore are less likely to get AP? Or am I just absurdly unlucky with my artifact drop rates, thus getting less of everything overall?

Before that 0.6.1 patch, it's true that ability boost doesn't worth. However, AP rarely drops for high level players after that patch. There's two other reasons not to train ability boost above 40/100 though. 1. You don't need that much AP to fill all of your abilities necessary for normal gameplay. Though you need around 600 AP to fill all the ability tiers, in general you only need 350-400 for necessary abilities. I've got 372 AP now, where 281 from leveling, 41 from ability boost, and 50 from artifacts. And that's already enough to fill SP, HP, MP, EXP tanks, necessary supportive/depreciating spells, offensive spells and others. 2. The training cost for ability boost will be more than 10k credits once hitting 40/100. It means it's cheaper to buy artifacts from others, keep any AP you want, and sell/keep energy drinks, crystals and haths.

no worries, mages have to spend all that ap into their spells (especially if they want variety). it about evens out. if i took out all my ap from my offensive spells i'd have about enough to fill out my overcharge, but then again i'm lazy and don't like reseting often (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

:: Off topic ::Reading all the talk about AP made me want to look around & checking in the abilities page. By sheer dumb luck, I discovered that I somehow left 1 MP tank right in the middle of the page (tier 5) completely empty... And the last time I reset my ability was ages ago! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) And I just spent the last couple of AP I got on some stupid shit I'll never use. ... I feel so fail ... When I hit 290 I had all my tanks, and overcharge boost maxed as well as all the dep/sup/cure spells that I tend to use.
Maybe someday I will have enough AP to start getting those useless (mostly) and elusive resist abilities. They really should be split from the spells now since rating became resist they no longer buff the spells they are chained to so it makes less sense for them to be so.

I'm shocked you don't have all your Abilities Maxed long ago.

Gratsh with the 2k post, harr. I only had like 40-50 artifacts since I started playing so the amount of AP yielded from shrine is quite low. Thats why my EXP tiers are not nearly completed yet.

Do the APs stop being given out once the tanks have been filled out?

QUOTE(DSpooky @ Nov 28 2011, 17:32) Are ethereal weapons really worth it? Yes they do void damage which cannot be resisted, but one swing (if I hit) will kill them while my ethereal longsword may leave with 1hp left.
Yes, ethereal weapons are worth it. Yes, in certain situations a normal weapon might be better, such as against a monster that has negative resists to your damage type (is vulnerable, in other words). But it is far more common that they have resists than they have weaknesses, so what you lose against some, you win against other. And especially the more common higher level monsters have high melee resists (such as dragonkin, giants etc) Ethereal weapons do a little less base damage, but make up for it with doing void damage. But they also doesn't have any burden or interference, which is a major bonus which should not be overlooked. It will make you a little faster and make your spells a little better, compared to a non-ethereal weapon which would most likely put you over the limit for burden and interference. QUOTE(cyberwaveIT @ Nov 29 2011, 13:17) Do the APs stop being given out once the tanks have been filled out?
As far as I understand it, no. There is someone who has complained about that, having filled every slot in the ability tree, and still has AP left over.

I've a few low level Ethereal weapons that were dropped along the way, between Lv30 to Lv60. Should I try to bring them up thru IW? It does take a lot of time, gaining EXP but not any credits (as well as getting tougher with more monsters to battle) QUOTE As far as I understand it, no. A pity, if only the system can be made aware & instead give out other items in it's place.

I still strongly believe that the "eth gear have worst stats than normal gear" is just a myth; a thing of the past... While it's true that Tenb does said this. * I remember that he saying that a long time ago. And eth weapon that drop at that time does, indeed, have a lot lower stats than the normal stuff, and the difference is clearly visible to anyone. I actually have a link to a few of them in my old computer, but since it's now dead, I can't show an example. Eth nowadays have pretty much, if not exactly the same stats, as a normal weapon. I can bet my ass on this! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) ** Fact: Tenb's information are extremely unreliable.

I would say it's because the average quality of the equipments is increased after 0.6.1, so even if there's some 25% decrease in quality it's still pretty decent. Except it's something as ridiculous as this one, I don't think it worths the time to raise that in IW. I will need at least 3 months of effort to raise that beyond level 200. This post has been edited by varst: Nov 29 2011, 17:55
