Rapier is the recommendation for weapon. If you get in the 170s, I have a Superior Rapier I can pass on to you.

Shield type ideal is Force, but they're hard to find. I replaced my old Average Force Shield with a Superior Kite Shield because the block was as good and almost everything else was better. Shield = block, pretty much.

I cast:

Protection.
SoL
Regen

These are the three basics. If at any time I get a free cast, I then cast Heartseeker.

If I can then sneak in Haste, I do so.

If I get more free casts, I then cast Shadow Veil.

I found Shadow Veil to be essential in light armor in the middle 100s, but not necessary (nice to have) with heavy armor. Mediocre heavy armor and weapon should allow you to fight on Hell in RE. Yes, block makes that much difference.

My stats are probably not optimized, but first three should be > LEVEL. End and Wis about your LEVEL. Intelligence can lag to about 0.7 your level.

I'm sure someone in the 400s will have better recs, but those are mine.

You might have to manage SPIRIT on and off to manage the spell cost, but as your pool gets larger, the spells get easier to cast.

Heartseeker + Shield Bash (Vital Strike when u get it) + good rapier makes 1h much faster.

Difficult to say, really. What you could do is calculate the value of the materials you put in, then put it in auction with a start of exactly that value. If no sale, salvage. If sale, you break even at least.

Doesn't really matter. There are a lot of theories about this but in fact the best strategy at low level is to keep your monsters at powerlevel 25. They won't win much, but bring gifts every 3 days.

Best advice: think of an incredibly funny monster name, and select the type of monster that fits that name best.

I have found it doesn't really matter.

At lower PL's, none of the types get many wins at all.. so you'll get a gift every three days regardless.
(In my experience, I feel anything below PL1000 to be a lower PL. Others will feel differently and say below PL200, etc.)

At Higher PL's, the wins happen quite often, but mostly from players fleeing, so once again... doesn't matter.

The only difference I've ever noticed... if you pick a Celestial, undead, daimon, dragonkin, etc...
on the higher PL's you have the opportunity to change their T2/T3 attacks to magic.

In that case, it makes the crystals of cunning and knowledge you use worthwhile.

But once again... the players are fleeing from a round, and your monster just happens to be in that round.
The higher the PL, the better chance your monster has of being in that round.

So I guess figure 19 phazons at ~200k each.
451 High-grade cloth at ~20k each...

Jeez... just with those two, I'm at nearly 13m...

try 90 rounds arena at hell and above. maybe it's only a chance, but in last years it has been reported to have a fair chance. yesterday it dropped me both fruits in the first ten rounds, for example.

Nope, one just dropped for me on Hard

reforge, I'd say. First get what you need, then see what else pops up - that's my strategy. And look what it did for me: 173 shards and still only pen5 spel2.

Should I bother getting Crystarium and if so, to what rank? Can't get too far in hellfest yet, but If its worth it in the end should I get it know to start paying it off?

you should buy it once you can clear Hellfest in a time you think which is quite fast, and then at least to level 3 if not 5
