A quick strategy check:

because of soulfused, hell gives 2 potenties. So I need to play Hard for 1.
What's the best (or Superlatatium's (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ) strategy?
- First Pen1 or reforge?
or
- Pen1 or Spel1 or otherwise reforge?
or
- play for 2 on Hell: reforge if not Pen2 or Pen1 + Spel 1?

Yeah, you want Pen 5, so regardless of what else you're doing, aim for Pen 3 by level 4-5, otherwise the remaining IWs will be long with a relatively low chance of getting Pen 5 by level 9. So, if going one by one, you need Pen 1 at level 1, and Pen 2 at level 2 or level 3.

Your IW goal is long, and you're not that poor, so don't be afraid to reforge quickly if you don't feel lucky. Amnesias are easier to use than long IWing + EDs.

Quick question about forge materials.

I know that you can salvage basic materials (metal, cloth, etc) from equipment, but stuff like catalysts and energy cells can only be bought from the item shop, correct? At least I haven't seen them drop from any monsters so far...

Credit sink only, by design.

Energy cells can be salvaged from rare-tier equipment, but it's almost never worth it.

A quick update: I burt 44 amnesia's so far, and I need my 2nd ED of today soon and I have the LGBT-perk* so that's quite some stamina I've used up.

For some reason, my EXP earned in battle is cut in half when I cross-over to LV90.

For example. in random encounters at LV89, EXP earned is around 9XXX, but at LV90 and above, EXP earned is only around half of usual

What's going on?

My stat:
Stamina = 99
Difficulty = Normal
Training EXP bonus = +40%
No other extra bonuses

As far as I can tell, the only factor that might have changed would be the number of monsters you fought. Could you have fought like, 5 monsters, then 2 monsters the next time you checked?

Also, maybe try playing on Hard? You're forgoing certain drops (Shards) playing on Normal, and it's not like it's that much more difficult. Xp bonus and better equipment rolls is a plus too.

Edit: Maybe something to do with your exp total as well? Not too sure on that front.

Checked. At Stamina 77, Hell setting, silver star, 4% training bonus, I'm getting in the 39 thousands, before and after.

1. Using infusions mid-battle is useless for a melee build, right? Wiki says it only improves damage of magicks, so I should only use infusions as enchantments in the forge when playing as a melee character?

2. Deprecating spells never grant proficiency when channeled - bug or intentional?

1. They also improve elemental mitigation when used on armor, but that's useless too. So yeah, only use infusions to enchant weapon outside of battle.

2. Prof gain chance is proportional to mana spent; the greater fraction of base mana spent on the spell, the higher the chance of prof gain. So when you spend no MP, there's no chance of prof gain.

I didn't found one, but as far as I can tell there isn't much to it. There is no reason to skip on certain attributes/resists (unless you dont need INT because your Monsterskills are all pohyiscal I think) and Chaos tokens on the skills mentioned in the article to make the monster dangerous aside from PL.

Edit: You should leave mage setups till level 310+ though, as that's when you unlock zero cooldown Imperil, which is vital to the viability of mage.
