I think I just bought Legendary Radiant Phase Shoes of Niflheim in auction for 500k. I thought I would never get it for that money. But now I wander - is this an upgrade?

Old shoes: EDB 40%
New shoes: EDB 28% + MDB 27%

if nothing else, think this way: with one Phazon now you can forge both EDB and MDB (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Good deal imo.
As I calculated some time ago, the lmax mdb on radiant is roughly equivalent to a 50% roll on edb.

Since your mdb roll is a bit low is probably like 40% edb (so 28+40 = 68, maybe it's even a little more).
Still an improvement.

Since frugal it's nearly completely useless (frugal to be worth should have 2x or 3x the mana conservation) it's still a very nice upgrade.

Even though, thinking better about it, a 75+% EDB elemental prefixed would be better.
Very similar result (better if 80+%) and no double HGC and no BoD necessary.

For a Mage build 3 phase + 2 prof, which pieces should be phase and which should be prof?

I was thinking the same when I won this rapier (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) I'm afraid of whether I overpaid or not with how no one even tried to bid higher while its still below 1m

I'm guessing you overpaid quite a bit, at higher levels you go find Hallowed/Demonic if not Ethereal Rapiers, or higher ADB.

Looks like I'm joining jackalo in the overpaying player's club (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)

Doubt I could afford to challenge other bidders for decent rolled hallowed/etherial rapiers anyway. Might stick with this rapier and focus on gearing my ice mage once I'm done spending the minimum on my first Leg. set. I guess 8 levels of IW is worth 250k so thats 500k for a leg. rapier with ok adb + IW service

Nope, not even close.
Radiant has always higher damage than elemental prefix.

Even the whole leg EDB range is significantly worse than 3 MDB.

Well... I kinda expect that figure for a good elemental rapier. It's a nice one, not very high stats but over 50%. I'd say you can have a lot of fun with this. Get a good IW on it, and you're good to go.

You'll get about 1600 potency points for run, so about 7 runs i think.

I have a self drop dw set but I only use it for hard SG runs to keep the prof at max. I might spend a bit on a fleet/sd set later if I ever complete my ice mage set.

protip: decide whether to pursue the Savage (Fleet) or the whatever Shadowdancer route. Savage Shadowdancer route is quite hard to afford, and especially to fulfill (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)

If you plan on forging, it was a great decision.
And these should be forged.

I just won this Legendary Ethereal Rapier of the Nimble, wasn't even looking at the ADB at the time just the level of the item.

I also got this off the bazaar for like 20k or so at the time, Magnificent Ethereal Rapier of Slaughter.

I was wondering if I should be putting all my mats I can afford into the Legendary or the Magnificent, while I grind the crap out of 1H prof. I just read through the wiki page of the forge and found out that having a low level for the smith will limit my upgrade limits.

Would also like to know what kind of shield I should be looking for in the meantime.
