(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) As I said, I stopped leveling for a while. Dunno why. First I thought about grinding 500 hath for Rainbow first, then continue to level up, but now that I have it I still cannot put myself to it. Meh ~_______~

I just have no drive right now (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) though I kinda want to hit 250 to get the last tier... it just feels so far away. I remember when you were a lot higher then me buktore and I went into one of your really old WTS posts to find some gear that was great at the time.

I do know you're trying to help, but please, try to be simple, answer only what you know , and focus on those unanswered questions only (unless you are sure it's wrong), okay?
I'm one of those people who likes a lot of details, actually. ^^

Well, now that I have a second Shadowdancer armor, I might as well as this as well. For a full Shade Set, what's better: higher evade or low burden? This Fleet equipment seems to have quite a lot of advantages over this Shadowdancer equipment with the evade being the key focus here, but the Shadowdancer equipment lowers my 3.61 and has much better attribute bonuses, so I have higher action speed, DEX and AGI. Which should I equip? This post has been edited by HaliZorat: Oct 11 2011, 23:09

go with the fleet. no contest.
burden is a non-issue even in light armor.

I'm the person from some pages ago. I've been buying weapons, but I'm curious about two things. Should I be looking for equipments near my level? I've bought a lot of lv250+ stuff, thinking in the longer term. Also, should I focus my credit use on defensive equipments? I thought they were more important (specially later on), so my plan was to wait until I could get a lot of credits easily, to get some of the best available.
I'm sorry if these are vague questions, and thanks in advance.

As long as the 250+ equipment you bought scales well to your level, then there's no harm in it. And what do you mean by defensive equipment? Physical mitigation? Elemental resistance? As things stand right now, many players prefer equipment that add damage to their attacks. Stuff like Phase cloth with Surtr/Niflheim/etc., Shade armor, and Power armor are examples. I wouldn't put these into the category of "defensive" equipment. If you have a bad weapon, it might be cheaper to get a good weapon before you focus on the other aspects.

What's the formula for calculating a monster's level based on the number of crystals levels invested? I was getting 1 level per elemental resistance crystal level, then I upgraded a stat and it gained 3 levels.

Elemental Resistances always give 1 PL and costs round(10*1.25^N) where N is the number of times that particular resistance has been upgraded. Primary statistics give 3 PL the first time and this amount increases by one for each successive boost of the same stat. So the first Strength upgrade will increase your power level by 3, the next Strength upgrade will increase your power level by 4, etc. etc. They cost round(50*1.9^N) per upgrade where N is the number of times that particular stat has been upgraded.

Obviously some people have found ways to optimize their monsters' strength-to-power levels, because there are some nasty ones at higher levels. Is there a thread on this, or are people keeping it hush? LWB could use an awesome mascot!

Make a giant, feed it nothing but Vigors and Fortitudes and maybe a couple of Finesses. That should do it.

Raise Strength to make them hit harder, Dexterity/Intelligence to boost their special attack, Agility to make them hit faster, Fortitude to make them last longer and Elemental Resistances to piss off mages. I don't think there's much more to it than that.

Thank you for answering. I meant armors and such, although they really aren't very defensive, as you explained. I bought one shade armor piece, but my general idea is to wait a bit more until I can easily afford good ones. Also, for some more questions, if you guys don't mind answering. What made clubs so good in the most recent patch? I'm curious because the outdated equipment advice page said they were unpopular (then). Secondly, what makes rapiers a good choice as an off-hand weapon when dual-wielding? I never get the penetrated armor effect, but I guess it's just my bad equipments and level. And as for the last question: If I delete a monster, is there any cost associated in (re)creating a new one? Thank you all again~

Clubs and maces back then, as far as I could tell, were just used to permastun enemies. This sounds great, but compared to using Bleeding Wound and/or Penetrated Armor, battles with Stunning weapons were much slower.
Now we've lost the ability to permastun, but Stunned monsters now take 50% more damage from melee attacks (and maybe your Spirit Attack? Not sure here). Granted, it was 100% more damage before it got a bit more balanced, but I think you can see how effective a Mace that can potentially stun an entire group of enemies and then deal double or 50% more damage while not taking damage from the stunned enemies themselves would be. Clubs are similar since you can now deal more damage, except you can only target one monster at a time.
Rapiers have decent parry that gets multiplied by 50% when used as your off-hand and Penetrated Armor, while others have parry + Bleeding Wound.
I don't believe there's a cost for making a monster. I think there's only a cost in opening a slot, renaming and deleting.

Sorry to butt in with my question.
I returned to playing after quite some time and I'd like to ask you guys for general advices in fighting. Both in arena and in grindfest. Basing on your experience, what equipment is the most suitable for it and what to use together with it, like do you keep some spells always up, e.g. constant barrier/haste/shadow veil?. Anything else what is important?
So far I'm grinding in full heavy armor with 2h bleeder with barrier always up. I use the gems the way I can get the most benefits out of em, but usually I end in like 30th~35th round on normal diff. Results with my evade cloths with either 1h or 2h wasnt really better. So what can I do to last longer? Except for using pots, I dont feel like doin it. For arena I used my evade stuff with high block kite shield and shortsword or club.
Thanks in advance.

@melni Mobs hit like mac trucks now compared to before. Pick up a mace (ethereal if possible for no burden/interference and same damage to everything) so that you can stun some of the mobs and they dont get a chance to hit you. Less damage taken = less mana used to cure = last longer. Personally I haven't used heavy armor since the change to give bonuses for wearing a full set of gear so I'm not sure but I hear that protection and haste are good to have up in that armor set.

Lets make this short and quick (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Mace is the best within the 2H weapons in this patch. Stun makes you safe from getting hit while you can kill multiple monsters at the same time. I don't recommend 1H style for arena though. Barrier no longer exists, it has merged with shield; the new name is protection. I don't think you need constant haste/shadow veil yet. For heavy armor, you would want either a power set (to kill faster) or a shield set (for block). Your equipment seems to be wrong? Always use a straight set. Evade is only effective for cloth and light armor.

What effect does wisdom have on monster lab stuff ? Do they start with more mana or regen it faster? What about int on non-elementals?
