Personally I'm liking Dual Wield for my schoolgirls run. An Ethereal Shortsword in my main hand (because it's the only non-crap one-handed ethereal I have) and Club of Slaughter in my offhand.

With the combination of higher base damage, offhand hits, and double procs (not the best bleed, but ~1k per turn), I'm killing them in 40 turns instead of 70.

Do not dual wield in arenas. ever. In fact dual wield turns out to be really, really bad at anything other than ring of blood fights not to mention that the proc damages are mediocre at best and it takes forever to kill things. Niten Ichiryu isn't much better because it lacks the bonus attack radius from regular 2H.

I acknowledge that DW is is many ways (or perhaps completely) inferior to 2H, but I really do prefer just sticking with what I like, which is DW. Otherwise, I would have switched to maging a long time ago simply for the raw power.

Have a 2H equipment setup and train the fuck out of it (preferably something high-bleed like scythe (high crit balance preferably) or high hit like katana (slaughter preferred.)) It's very worth it and you will clear rounds almost as fast as mages.

Again, already acknowledged. I may do this later on when I have little else to do (aka, when I reach level 250 and train stuff to the point where it becomes almost impossible for me to afford the next level), but for now, no plans. Trying to afford good Shade equipment is expensive enough as it is without trying to get a good 2H weapon.

You're also going to want to get into the habit of putting just about every non-element-shield support spell on your bar plus silence and regen2. (Yes, you're going to have to spellcast a lot as a melee user. Deal with it.) Haste lasting more than 30 turns is a must, and Protection and Shadow Veil stretches out the margin of error you can go without having Regen.
It's not an absolute necessity to use Godly Mana potions, you can do just fine with the lower three tiers of potions which are much cheaper since you (should) have a lower mana pool and Channeling for your Regen II doesn't activate too infrequently.

Also when you get Heartseeker fights will go about twice as fast with 2H.

1. Already have Heartseeker, so I know how great it is, and can only imagine how great it is when you can potentially hit every enemy for a whole lot more damage.
2. I personally use Channeling for Heartseeker, while constantly maintaining Regen, since more casts of Regen = more chances of Channeling, which then leads to casting Regen II. Thus far, other supportive spells are only cast when I feel it's necessary (mostly at the latter rounds of arenas).

Anyways, I suppose I'll get IA for Spirit Shield once I get there. Still a few hath short of it though, so I'll just have to hope my luck is good enough with what few artifacts I get.

What's your average mana consumption?
I find myself using a pot every 8-9 turns, which I suspect is kind of high.

1 Godly Mana pot around round 20, then once every 10 rounds. Pot usage is roughly the same whether it's on Hell or Battletoads. Recasting Spark too often or not getting a channelled AF up quickly enough can drain MP fast. Energy Drinks help a lot, I use less mana on BT + great status than I do on Nintendo + normal status.

I also tried DW before I took a break from HV a few days ago. Even with meh weapons, it was surprisingly good; in fact if you talking only about the round VS non-konata girls, its faster than my eth mace! (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

But, as expected, its way more tedious and cumbersome to play... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Still, if I have your eth club, I will switch to DW against girls marathon in a heartbeat!

As I said, I stopped leveling for a while. Dunno why. First I thought about grinding 500 hath for Rainbow first, then continue to level up, but now that I have it I still cannot put myself to it.

Well, now that I have a second Shadowdancer armor, I might as well as this as well. For a full Shade Set, what's better: higher evade or low burden?

This Fleet equipment seems to have quite a lot of advantages over this Shadowdancer equipment with the evade being the key focus here, but the Shadowdancer equipment lowers my 3.61 and has much better attribute bonuses, so I have higher action speed, DEX and AGI.

Which should I equip?

I've bought a lot of lv250+ stuff, thinking in the longer term. Also, should I focus my credit use on defensive equipments? I thought they were more important (specially later on), so my plan was to wait until I could get a lot of credits easily, to get some of the best available.

As long as the 250+ equipment you bought scales well to your level, then there's no harm in it.

And what do you mean by defensive equipment? Physical mitigation? Elemental resistance?
As things stand right now, many players prefer equipment that add damage to their attacks. Stuff like Phase cloth with Surtr/Niflheim/etc., Shade armor, and Power armor are examples. I wouldn't put these into the category of "defensive" equipment.

If you have a bad weapon, it might be cheaper to get a good weapon before you focus on the other aspects.

What's the formula for calculating a monster's level based on the number of crystals levels invested? I was getting 1 level per elemental resistance crystal level, then I upgraded a stat and it gained 3 levels.
