If I wanted to build the dream 2nd persona, what would it be, and what individual items would be in it?

Since you're playing at hard I would say go mage.
With Dark/Holy & 1.0 prof factor a single T3 should pretty much always one-shot everything at hard.

Why not build 2h Light on your current persona? There's 3 equipment sets per persona anyway

because it doesn't work so well at high levels. better 1H Heavy at this point

Hello everyone. I was away from the game for some time and it seems that I managed to forgot almost everything. Just before the break I switched styles from shade DW to the non-imperil (2 cotton, 3 phase) holy mage.

For now I need to grind my proficiencies - deprecating and supporting is already high enough, so I ask about other three proficiencies
1)holy - as far as I remember the advice was "just play" - it will catch up on its own. Is it correct?
2)cloth - I found the recipe of "IW crude with no Haste" - is there something better?
3)staff - no ideas so far. Is there some purposeful way to level staff akin to the recipe for IW or there is nothing better than clearing arenas/random encounters as a whack-a-mole?

3) crude IW (IWBTH or Nintendo if IWBTH is too difficult), full cloth + staff with the worst physical damage you can get (make sure you have not slotted Staff Damage ability). In this way you will also increase cloth prof for free.

I don't remember exactly, but when I worked my way up from Free-Flowing Dust to Æsahættr, my average number of turns in an IWBTH-fest decreased from around 7450 to 6850. So there's definitely an effect.

1h heavy, like (nearly) everyone else, for huge ADB combined with extreme defense. Rapier + force shield + power slaughter. There's a reason it's the most popular style...

sure. if you have enough time and fund to get a set of decent gear.
AL is very good for some extra exp. the perk also.
the exp from toplist is REAL.

i recommend changing to 1h heavy. i'm now sure about 2h light. but 1h heavy is the easiest way to play at pf.
not sure 2h light works or not. but you may give it a try.
and i guess you have a decent amount of funds. so mage maybe?

Final thought is to open personas on both 1h heavy and mage and gradually build as I find good equipment.

It's all server-side.

But, if you want, I'm sure it'd be trivial to hide the random encounter frame when it pops up, if it contains a RE and not a Dawn.

Nothing official, right. REs and Dawn will always be triggered no matter what; all users can do is adjust the UI.
