Scavenger 25->26 will give you 1.33...% more of everything (hence 1.33...% more equipment), Quartermaster 9->10 will give you ~3.45% more equipment.

QUOTE(varst @ Oct 8 2011, 05:04) None of them, I would say. I guess you're using it in off-hand DW, right? (and it's logical too) Then what matter most should be its PA rate and duration. However, the rapiers you've posted has 2 problems: 1. their level's too low 2. their base duration's too low. Try this one. Should be a base 2.5 rapier, so should be a 4-turner for you. Thanks for the rapier, but I'm using it as a mainhand when I DW, with this [Fine Dagger of the Nimble]. When I one hand, I use either this [Superior Buckler of the Barrier] or this [Fine Kite Shield of Protection].

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Pure luck. I did Battletoads high-level arena for like a week and got nothing and then went down to Nightmare and bam a Magnificent Kite Shield of the Barrier, Exquisite Shade, and Ethereal Wakizashi in the span of 4 days. Snowflake has a weird sense of humor. And thanks.

Should i change my style from axe + shield to dagger/rapier + shield? I'm thinking that being more defensive would help me in the arena.

I recommend Club+Shield, personally. In addition to being good damage (you do more damage to a stunned target), stunned targets can't attack, so it's actually good defensively as well.

True, but it's only 1 target at a time. There are simply far too many for that to work well in the later parts of the arena. And i can kill most monsters in 2 or 3 strikes (except rares) so the extra damage doesn't help me much. I'm better off with bleeding .

Stick to Axe, then. Daggers have remarkably low bleed and PA is pretty much useless. Parry means more counterattacks, but it's a pretty small difference.

I'm currently using this http://hentaiverse.org/pages/showequip.php...;key=c9c8a1284fwith Heimdall phase. Would I be getting higher damage with an Ebony Staff of Destruction or a Katalox Staff of Heimdall? A few examples for good staffs would really help. Was it still the "Its so awesome; it cure cancer!" kind of feelings that I heard people proclaims numerous time about a year ago? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Nah, maging is only a side project to spend my credits on right now. I'm still using my Kevlar + Mace/Rapier-Shield for pretty much everything. With the mediocre/bad equipment I was able to gather in this short time I'm already dealing huge amounts of damage. It certainly speeds things up. I can see how with really good equipment it would blow trough everything in no time. Another thing that's really noticeable is that supportive spells are way more useful/cheap with maging since you clear one round in 1-2 turns. One Spark of life for example will last for the whole Arena challenge while as melee you would have to recast it a few times. This post has been edited by roadgray: Oct 8 2011, 18:12

QUOTE((Cheater) Tiap @ Oct 8 2011, 18:15) If you're going to use Holy/Dark spells you need a Katalox staff. Or a very good Redwood. But stick to Katalox. Destruction is usually preferred, EDB-suffixed (Heimdall/Fenrir) should work better than Proficiency-suffixed (Heaven-sent/Demon-fiend) since EDB weighs more than proficiency in the damage formula. Good sticks: Exquisite Katalox Staff of HeimdallExquisite Katalox Staff of DestructionExquisite Katalox Staff of DestructionThere are plenty of other examples in the Equipment thread. Thank you very much. I guess I'll make a thread in WTB and see if I can get something like that. How much would I have to pay for something good?

Any new player want to play melee must first read this paragraph out loud 3 times before asking anything melee related ... Then ask yourself if you still want to ask the same question. FYI; mage were, literally, about a hundred times more powerful in the past, and melee were shittier by the same amount... You think they are powerful now? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) You have no idea how deep the rabbit hole goes... - My first glance at the pic, I thought you're already a mage! Your Elem prof is even higher than mine, so I see no problem whatever for you to become a mage. - I don't see anything wrong with your prof at all. inb4 Heavy OP

Clubs also has the advantage, unless it has been changed, that it adds to the chance to stun on a counter-attack. I think I read that somewhere. Also, even if you kill the monsters in 2 to 3 strikes, a stun will mean they can't hit you back for at least 1 or 2 turns that it takes you to kill them. Bleed is even worse, since that also does it's damage over several turns meaning little advantage if you kill them in 2 or 3 strikes. Penetrated armor basically does the same thing as stun, increase damage on a target that has it applied, but it doesn't give you the advantage that they can't hit back and the damage increase is for almost all monsters smaller than that from stun.

The best sticks easily reach into the hundreds of thousands of credits (check sushi's latest auction - 4 days left and the Katalox of Destruction is already at 100k). Other than that, I don't really know. I got my staff as a trophy reward.

[L210] Fine Katalox Staff of Fenrir[L219] Fine Katalox Staff of Destruction[L254] Fine Katalox Staff of DestructionAll of these were drops. But I guess they aren't too nice.

As far as I know, it's never too late to change professions in this game. For this reason, my proficiencies are all over the place. It's also easier to gain proficiencies the larger the gap is between your level and your proficiency.
