Oh, so you use mace? I thought you're using 1H... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)

Have 5 points ready for lv.170 ... Heartseeker helps a lot.

If I was using 1H, I'm not even sure I would even be able to get past the magic mobs.

And yeah, I'm looking foward to Heartseeker, 25.4% crit rate isn't cutting it. Neither is my 89% hit rate, apparently.

I should write a detailed IA description for wiki in the next few days.

@buktore: Question is, you would like to wait for some inconsistent free spells, or you would like to consistently save mana through IA so you can cast them?
I would say that's a personal choice.

@ varst

My question is that if its benefits really worth the hath spent or not? I would say that's depend on personal wealth.

I'm dirt poor, so... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

PS. In fact, I still owe someone 900k ... with no foreseeable way for me to be able to pay any time soon. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)

Can Magic Missle proc CM?

I'm trying to raise my magic proficiencies to increase the duration of things like Poison (and soon Heartseeker), but waiting for it to recover from regening takes too long, I'm too poor for things like Rainbow Aura, and I'm too cheap to use a crapload of Mana potions. So I'm opting to try out Ether Theft to recover MP. (Though I have 0 Staff prof, so I assume my chances of getting it would be very low anyways)

Just make sure you have a good ET stick (35%+ is decent, 40%+ is good, Redwood usually grants higher chances) if you want to go down the Ether Theft route.
Also, Heartseeker is kind of utterly useless to mages. Maybe you meant Arcane Focus?

As for the Mana potions, once you have a decent level of Scavenger they won't be a problem (you'll get way more than you can consume).

No, I use Melee, but since Ether Theft can get me MP (hopefully faster than the regen rate), I decided to give it a try. I'll be playing on Easy Crysfest so I don't really have to worry about getting killed.

Undead monsters seem a bit tricky to level up, what with having four of the seven ER's maxed out already.

Is Assimilator worth getting?
Or will you reach the cap anyway if you don't switch too much?

If you melee/power-level it's probably worth it.

thanks. so what your saying is that IA will never "waste" my mana correct?
if thats the case i think i will get them once i obtain some more hath.
i get the majority of my credits from arena clears so the longer my mana lasts the more of them i can reasonably finish.
just one last thing. i would definitely use shield for the first slot but what would anyone recommend for the second slot?
i would put regen but if i have full health at any point it would feel like a waste

Yeah, you won't have any left-over turns remaining on your buff spell, since it instead spreads the cost out evenly over the turns that you use it.
And you also get proficiency for supportive magic, even if you aren't casting it. You will never get channeling though, since you never cast it, but you will save the turns that you had to spend casting it, and can do something else instead.
Meaning your buffs will last longer, so to speak, since you can use your turns more effectively.

Also, you can only put supportive spells in your auto-cast slots, not curative ones like regen.
And you can't put all supportive spells there either, not spark of life for example.
I think I read someone high-level complained that they didn't see a point in getting IA lvl 5, since there was less than 5 spells your could actually have on autocast, and that the only advantage was a total of -60% in upkeep costs.
But was told that there was in fact 5 buffs that could be auto-casted, with the 5th one being the lvl 250 spell Spirit Shield.
I assume the other 4 are shield, haste, barrier and shadow veil.

Since the patch, shield has gotten a big nerf, so ever since that I use Haste. I only have IA lvl 1 tho, and if I got IA lvl 2 I still wouldn't use shield, since the upkeep cost would be a little too high.
As it is, with only haste, I have negative regen and slowly lose mana.

So for me, the second slot would be unused, and I would just have it for the decrease in upkeep costs.

My only perk right now is IA lvl 1, and I'm saving my hath to buy rainbow aura (gives +50% to health/mana/spirit regen).
Long way to go there tho, with 500 hath in cost. By my estimate, it'll be a nice christmas present....
After that, I'll start getting higher IA lvls.

Also, keep in mind that you gotta pay upkeep for all your auto-cast spells, so two spells will still mean a increase in upkeep costs of 70% compared to a single spell, when you upgrade from IA 1 to IA 2 (assuming the spells got the same cost per turn).
So you might wanna get IA 2 just for the decrease in upkeep, rather than the extra auto-cast slot.
If you think that way, IA lvl 5 will be greatly beneficial even if you only use a single auto-cast spell, since it will decrease your upkeep for that one by 60%, which for me right now would be a huge difference, since I would go from negative regen to actually start regening my mana.

As for arenas, you get a free refill on mana and health at the completion of every arena, so that should not be a problem, you just need enough mana to last all the way through, and then you got full mana again for the next arena.
Which means that at the end of every arena, you should spam your spells when you only got a hit or so left on the last monster, to get max proficiency out of it.

Problem is, if you use a staff, then you won't get any proficiency in your normal fighting style, so you risk lagging behind on that.
My way to max out proficiency gain, if I got the spare time for it, is to wait until I got max mana, then jump into a quick arena, go through it and then spam spells at the end, then use the free refill to either repeat on another arena, or go into a grindfest and spam out the spells there and then flee out of it.
And wait for mana to regen and repeat.
It regens fairly fast, so you just need to do something else for a little while.
Like writing long posts on the forums....

It costs a crap-ton of credits. 50K for the first level and 106K for the second.
credits that could be spent on other things.
But 10 levels (astronomically high I assume) should double your proficiency gain, so there is a definite advantage there.

If it is worth getting or not, depends entirely on how much free credits you have lying around.

I've been using my credits on maxing out my auras (currently training level 4 refined aura, which increases it's training cost far slower, 25K, 50K, 75K, 100K) and putting credits into ability boost and adept learner, as well as the drop rate skills.

What types of staffs are worth keeping to maybe sell in the WTS section later on? I've been been keeping a lot of staffs recently because I've been getting them as Fine+, but I'm pretty sure most of them are just junk because of what type they are and what suffix they have.
