Hi. A 'newbie' here to ask questions.
So I played HV quite some time ago, but it was limited to doing Random encounters and the first ~5 arena challenges. My gear is old stuff that I got from the Free Shop back in the day.
That said, despite being lvl 251, I'm a bit clueless about what to do.
I have some Hath and Credits saved up. Any tips on how I should be spending these? I've already bought hath perks that I want for the galleries.
For credits, should I buy new stuff? Upgrade what I have? (2 Mag, 4 Exq with Suffix; only 1 has good prefix)
I'm currently using 2H + Light, but I'm guessing that's not very good/efficient since Wood/Cloth are more expensive than Metal/Leather? If it is indeed so, is it worth switching? I only have proficiencies in 2h, Light, Support and Depreciating... the rest are close to or exactly 0.

At your level, if you want to be able to handle interesting difficulties (with high PL monsters), you'll be best off with 1h. A shield increases defense by a huge amount, as do your free counter-attacks and stuns. The 1h weapon should be a rapier so you can proc Penetrated Armor (the most useful weapon proc by far). If you switch to 1h, you'll probably want to forge shield block to 5 or 10 or so, so look for either a Buckler of Barrier or a Kite (of Protection?). (Avoid buckler of non-barrier because its block is too low, and avoid force shields unless you're rich, because they cost too much to forge.) Armor style is less important. You might continue with the light armor you have now for a little time until your 1h prof gets higher and you get more comfortable with the style, but after that, you'll probably find that your defense is high and your damage is low - which is why melee players past 250-ish almost always use at least some Power or Power Slaughter armor. Don't worry too much about equipment quality except for shield and weapon (which should be high quality and soulfused), since you'll likely be changing out all other slots frequently enough. QUOTE Wood/Cloth are more expensive than Metal/Leather? You mean repair costs? They're nearly irrelevant, don't bother thinking about them if you don't want to.

Mage is the most efficient style at high level so they're in high demand. Still a long way for you.

btw how much is the max item world lvl? what does it do again? As others have said, mage is quite junky before you're in the 300s or so... it's going to be difficulty, especially once you hit the PL curve starting around level 150. Item world: https://ehwiki.org/wiki/Item_WorldUnless it's good enough to be worth soulfusing, IW is not worth it for someone of your level. It takes too long (except possibly for the first 2-3 potencies). Well, you could send it to an IWer like me to do it for you, but that costs credits. QUOTE(Mister E- @ Mar 10 2016, 03:13) Wow....

How should I reset my PABs when changing builds? Currently at 10 a day, it's going to take me weeks to rebalance my stats (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

If you're doing the opposite, your pabs should be already balanced, just raise str and dex to keep up with the others, decreasing int slowly.

(the bazaar offers me 6k, that's a lot (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)) Staff is L-grade with 2 of 3 matching attributes and at level 310. Since full matching staffs are so rare, especially at lower levels, it's probably sellable for a moderate amount. Magnificent Charged Phase Pants of Mjolnir is good. Level 311, second-best prefix of Charged, and bound to a low level. No Wis, but it's still definitely decent, if there are any low-level mages around, of course. Currently at 10 a day, it's going to take me weeks to rebalance my stats (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) It's not hard. Due to the exponential distribution of XP, it only takes a few days. After that, the effect of any further "optimization" would be completely unnoticeable. Don't worry about it. Cost is generally the cost of stamina and repairs * 1.2 or so. Full IW to 10 is usually 200k-250k, lower for Exq- and lower quality. Soulfused items can't be traded or transferred.

Oh ok. And...is cold mage a good idea considering giants have a +25 resistance vs cold and fire Edit: Also has anyone tried the 1H mage thing that nec mentioned earlier? I would very much like to be one because then I can be like Momiji! This post has been edited by LOL50015: Mar 10 2016, 07:52

Check this post by sssss2If i understand it correctly, if you're using imperil, there is little difference between the elements. If you plan to go the no-imperil route holy and dark have a noticable advantage.

And...is cold mage a good idea considering giants have a +25 resistance vs cold and fire No matter which element you pick, either Giants or Arthropods will have high resistance to your element, both of which are a very common monster type at high PL (and both have similar amounts of high tankyness). Only Fire is resisted by both, one of the reasons why it's less popular. And though tough monsters have more mitigation to fire, fire gear is also moderately cheaper than other elemental gear for that reason, so if your budget is slim it's still not a bad choice. The difference in clear speed isn't high anyway, or so I've heard. Also, if you're rich, you will be able to reduce all (ordinary monster) mitigation to 0 with Imperil if you use a high quality forged staff and a high quality forged prof equip in the right slot and have the prof perk. At that point, monster resistance stats become irrelevant (right?). Try 1h mage if you want, it's cheap and you can become a useful guinea pig. I would very much like to be one because then I can be like Momiji! mobs will always have 0 or near 0 specific mig after imp so its not important. Its all about redwood or willow staff, And the debuff you want. Or go with holy/dark with no imp, its much less tedious (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Even though I play as dark mage, I always cast Imperil.
Playing without Imperil slows round clearance too much. In fact, even with Imperil and a few forged peerless pieces, I'm still slower than lower-level elemental mages.

which it is the cap of physical and magical mitigation that should have with legendary armor 1h?
complete all schoolgirls takes me 2 hours with 1h, is a good time?
how advisable it is to change mage at my level?
if I want to change elemental mage, what should be my priorities?
