QUOTE((Cheater) Tiap @ Aug 30 2011, 21:28) What happens when you cast a spell you have on auto-cast? Is the upkeep reduced?
On a completely unrelated note, just raised my Divine prof from ~140 to ~160 with a single EoD run. Wahaha~
No, it's just like you've casted the spell. (you need to pay the full cost unless it's chanelling) There's duration for the spell, and no upkeep cost is needed. When the spell ends, you need to have at least 25% of mana in order for the autocast to re-activate.

QUOTE(buktore @ Aug 30 2011, 04:04) I've done this since lv.20 (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Which is almost 2 years ago... I don't understand why people wanted to leveling so fast in this game since the game clearly doesn't designed to be play at above lv.100 ... Some don't even cared if their character are any good as long as they can gain their lv fast (razorflame is a good example). I've even deliberately slow-down my exp gain in the past so that my prof and gears can catch up to my lv. Even that, anyone can just go spam 10 replies in Spamhaus before playing HV, which is what I'm doing from time to time when I wanted to power-leveling, to get huge exp boost without a single AP spent. @ KoudesuPlaying melee without putting points in OC boost? Blasphemy! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) You still need a lot more work in all aspect; stat, gear, ability, and the player himself... You can't expect a few END above your lv. (which is not high) to cover your damage received wearing low defense armor. You can't expect to hit hard by have more attack rating or ADM while you have 0 point puts into OC boost. And you can't play melee at higher lv. effectively without a smart use of supportive spell or an outside power to compensates. Melee, while playing it in battle is pretty straight forward, building and preparation for your character before getting into battle is a highly complex and tedious process indeed. I hope you can overcome this problem someday in near future. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I mostly have the exp tanks to unlock more Arenas faster. You do have a point about the proficiencies though. I'm almost level 110 and my proficiencies in Light Armor and 2H mastery are still around the 70s. I'll try out some OC gauges later, but just to clarify; SP tanks are just for Spark of Life usage, and the occasional Spirit attack? Edit: Oh, I need them to up the OC gauges.. QUOTE(Shizo Karen @ Aug 30 2011, 21:28) I just cleared it using this, but I only did at most 5k crits with 260 OC boost. Are you using slaughter armor pieces? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Nope. Only a shadowdancer shade gauntlets. The rest is kevlar. ~175 2H prof... QUOTE(Koudesu @ Aug 30 2011, 21:15) Edit: Oh, I need them to up the OC gauges..
Sucks, eh? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Also, everyone playing melee must get yourself an eth estoc. It's broken as fuck... I might even request Tenb to nerf it! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) QUOTE(buktore @ Aug 30 2011, 20:38) I might really quit Niten completely
Fuck this. I'm quit it right now until something change for Niten, which I doubt will ever come... This post has been edited by buktore: Aug 30 2011, 18:53

QUOTE(buktore @ Aug 30 2011, 18:40) Oh.. so you didn't saw what I wrote, eh? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) That's explain why there's nothing in my mailbox but bills. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Hax. Ask Hito how to get it. Me no understando~ My weapon is not a Slaughter one but still I doubt that would double my damage output. So, HOW? Wait, so putting points into OC will increase attack? How? It only says Maximum Overcharge will increase by 2/4/6/8/10%.

Buktore, you reminded me how far behind my proficiencies are lagging, as well as all the times mid-way through an arena i yell out "NO DON'T LEVEL ME YET", and have convinced me to redistribute all my exp tank points to put them to better use.
However, i already quit niten months ago. Niten is fun as hell, but no prof just kept hurting. I hope for some kind of specific prof for it soon too, so i can go back to it.

Getting a lot of "why" to do it but nothing on "how" it works. The only way a new player would ever realize this is accidentally stumbling on those bits of info. Personally I'm in a good place with damage, and 8 points to max out one OC is just too expensive at the moment when I need those for health. Not trying to actively grind either. Just Arenas, a Grindfest or two a day (maximum round 50) and Token of Blood if any.

HereAnd it's just 1-2 days ago. That's why I suggest you to search that. This post has been edited by varst: Aug 30 2011, 19:40

I should be more clear with what I write.
There is nothing in the ability text itself to suggest it would give a melee boost. The only way to find that out is to discover or be told the information you linked.

If that is the case then wouldn't it make more sense and be faster to gain levels now and focus on gaining proficiency later? Also, higher levels mean higher level equipment drops, no? Higher level equipment drops -> sell for more money -> you can buy better equip for yourself with that money. I would also guess that higher arena challenges bring more money. I'm not saying that I don't see your point and that I know what it's like above 200, but the advantages of the higher levels seem to outweigh the disadvantages.

Um...well....you know....we're not the ones who write those ability text, right? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) And we only know that about 3 months ago. With the always-looming-but-never-happen overcharge rewrite, I don't think Tenb has any plan to rewrite that ability text...

@ Madican Most of the tooltips in HV are either misleading, confusing, lacking, or seem to be just wrong for most player... Tenb (HV creator) did this on purpose; he did it for teh lulz. @ roadgray What you said is, of course, perfectly logical and 100% correct. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) The way you described it is basically the logical strategy of 'get high number to gain even higher number' that dominated real world societies and, of course, HV as well. ... You'll be able to 'progress' fast in HV, sure. But it make the game very boring to play that way since there nothing to be gain at high lv. except for higher 'numbers'. This is not my goal. I'm surprised Tenboro doesn't just insert himself as an unbeatable mob since he likes messing with the players so much.
