Just a curious question about your fighting style. I suppose you are still using Mace with Arcanist armor? If so, do you cast spells too? Imperil would be my guess, but do you use offensive spells too?
Yes, I am a niche player with 2h Mace and a full set of Savage Arcanist. Why the hell should someone ever decide to do this? It is quite simple. Even not being able to stop all incomming damage, I can stop a huge portion of it. With my current mace I got 29.2% stun chance for 4 turns. Sounds too short to be useful, but since I do use Arcanist, I have PABs boosting DEX and AGI as main stats. So with haste and 24.2% attack speed bonus you get long stuns. Hell, sometimes I even use FOCUS, not because of mana reg, but to land spells with long CD on Godlike mobs. I can Focus because the "sitting duck" period is shorter then the end of the stun period.
Spells are essential on this build. You will have to cast Silence. After every stun mobs get a "free action", mostly a Spirit Attack. Do not depend on what monster it is, you should always Silence on CD.
DPS is lower than any other light melee. So the use of skill II for 3 stacks of PA is advised, but you also boost it with Imperil (with both Dark/Holy perks maxed). Your weapon should be ethereal with either Holy / Dark as PXP Level 10. Can be a bit hard to get, but it is by far more useful than anything with burden or interference.
Other spells I use are Paradise Lost (perked and augmentet with Soul Fire) when I have excessive mana for another 10% dps boost and Ragnarok (perked and augmented with Burning Soul) for SP theft.
After I got my hands on OFC, +crit and +crit damage became a bit more useful. But OFC messes a bit with skills, so you do more Imperil, because PAx3 periods are less often.
You can do any arena on PF with that setup, but be warned you need more turns for TT&T (1k+ vs 700 DW) and you still will have problems on PF-fest (round 813 as personal record), but I have not all hath perks like other PF-fest players. EE and SS are missing, and no +DPS hath perks. Plus my gear is forged for utility, meaning
END 25 (13 others) on chest down to END 11 (5 others) on boots. So I miss 25+% HP of a full forge and more than 33+% of other stats from armor. Nevertheless all gear has Jug5 and at least Cap1.
This niche style will take more time to clear arenas compared to DW, BUT: it is not that fragile compared to other gear. So Savage SD surely is nice, but since I decided to use a mace, it is /not optimal/ for this build and Arcanist is the gear most suiting to a mace, because you are in need to utilize spells.
I am confident to be as tanky as heavy armor (damage reduction by stun) and as versatile as a mage (I can cast what I like, even Confuse (!) outside the Domino Strike range. Surely I lack in DPS (read me: clear time), but is a viable and fitting build for me. Plus it is a quite cheap one to build compared to a Radiant Phase Mage (60m+) *cough* or Savage Power Slaughter Rapier Force Shield Tank (40m+) *cough*.
