then everybody should go for Penetrator and Archmage. why is people still going for Economizer nowadays?

Having to chug mana potions/elixirs is annoying. Even if the cost savings in potions is completely insignificant, it's still not something that's fun to put up with. (similarly, a very basic mage past 350 might be curing every 4 turns on PF, which is incredibly annoying, but income per turn is still double or more melee's.) So someone who prefers easy convenient play over more annoying play may choose an option that doesn't maximize income per turn.

Spellweaver can be preferred over archmage. For high difficulty, lower level, lesser equipped mage, it's definitely better. Spellweaver 4 means something like 7% less damage taken, which is huge for those who ordinarily have to cure very often to stay alive.

maybe it's time to change/enchant/upgrade my gear, or start using another rotation or something :3

Upgrading isn't a bad idea if you have a bit of extra funds. Buy some cheap low-grade mats and upgrade the useful stats (Pmit, Evade, Crushing/Piercing, PABs) on all gears to 5. Cost: 5 stats * 6 gears * 5 upgrades = 150 levels. 150 levels = 750 low-grade metals + 15k in catalysts. ~130k is a bit of an upfront investment, but you'll gain almost all materials back when you salvage, and you'll be able to have ~Exq-Mag level stats rather than Average-level stats up to level 250-ish. It's worth it, but you have to have enough initial funds.

(Don't forge Power or Shade at all for temporary equipment, they cost special materials for each new level - too costly. Same for force shield.)

There's a noticable MDB bonus difference but the 2nd have overall better stats and bonus elec spell damage.

More or less same. Good thing second has huge mp price reduction and binded at higher level.
