Using light armor as opposed to heavy would get u more evade, resist chance, attack speed and lower mana cost.
block would depend on ur shield or shielding armor, parry depends on ur rapier/shortsword/waki and Dex PABs.
I don't think the difference in full light and heavy armor set would only be 2% evade.

IIRC the main reason why light armor was recommended for lower levels, is because of the resist chance to deal with nuke spells coming from pesky celestial mobs, and that at lower levels spirit shield isn't that effective at mitigating big numbers yet.

Personally, i don't regret switching to heavy armor as early as i did (around level 150++).

I was like level 70 I think and a member sent me a set of light leather and I kid you not my evade went up a measly 2%, lost all my block as I was told 2-H was better (about a 50 dmg bump from my rapier of slaughter so I lost my block/parry boost) and it was just brutal. I said "screw it" when I was raped on a random encounter (two mobs hit me hard at once at full health) that I would have otherwise survived with heavy. I might try to get a leather set up and try it again, it might have just been a major difference between what I had vs what I received too.


Though I'm curious how does mage fair higher level vs sword and board? I imagine with the proper gear there is more credit gain?

That's a better story to read. Trust me.

Proficiency gains are much more important than what numbers indicate.
I found that out, the times that i messed up my abilities settings.
When you play niten you DON'T gain any attacking proficiency, hence it's a style that you want to use when you move to a point in the game where you don't level up that often. So level 350-400 forth or whatever.
The more you go on with the levels, the more you will get high chaosed monsters against you, so they have higher % to make your life difficult. And yeah... we almost all had to deal with that pesky monster that evaded/parried/etc your attacks for 15+ turns making you want to throw our pc outside the window. I know i did... So IWing your equipment is actually something you will have to do. Better sooner than later.

As of now, niten is something you can play OF COURSE, but it's gonna be a mess. I highly advice to train your proficiency to cap or to swap to dw or 2h. Better dw. 1h is even more advised, but you can do fine with everything at the end.
Training is boring, but it helps. Get a couple of secondary trash weapons, break them (remove your equip and only equip the weapons to break, join a GF or IW and die on purpose making them lose quality till they break), now equip a secondary armor set with good defense values (no shade armor, just a mag/legendary leather armor of whatever) and then join fights on crude level equip IW, fight the first round without completing it (flee before you kill all monsters) and repeat. With a broken weapon you do very little damage, your equip does not boost your damage either, at the 1st round you take little to no damage for quite a bit and since you flee before completing the round you don't waste your stamina.
When you are at the proficiency cap, go on with the game for 5-10 levels and then repeat the training to cap your prof.
Also don't leave deprecating behind. "Silence" is a Godsend spell for DW/Niten.

As for IWing equipment, I tried that but my katana having Legendary prefix has too many rounds to win. On normal difficulty I survived 40 at most (when 7+ monsters hit at once, I loose about 90% life). And even if I won, I'd take too much time playing on normal. So I guess I wait till I have more life to spare.

1) assign EXP points. keeping all stats even may be fine but definitely start to do it.
2) play DW to raise prof.
3) IW your weapons.
4) while you're at it, replace katana. preferably Slaughter, but even a 0.82 Balance one has better rolls (in particular ADB)

but personally at your level i'd stick with 1H

It's not that I don't want assign points, but I want to assign them wisely.
And I would replace my katana with Slaughter suffix, but it's very hard to find unassigned/below level 300 good (and cheap) exquisite/magnificent/legendary katana of slaughter.
