The only real advantage of 1h/light is that it's safer.
You get more evasions than blocks so it's not even keeping up the spirit stance, nor does it have the heavy armor's damage. The lower mana cost is an "illusion" since you need 1-2 more buffs compared to 1h/heavy. Well at the end of the calculations it's true that you spend less mana, but it's not that much of a gain.
More than the rest, it's far cheaper to make and even forge if you want a good light set.
That's that. Safer and cheaper. 99% of the cases an 1h/heavy is better.
That said... Some times the safer version also has it's advantages.
If i have to do IW runs of legendary pieces, i rather use the 1h/light rather than the 1h/heavy.
That's... that actually. I don't use it on anything else.
By the way. Don't try Dovahkiin with 1h/light. Yeah, i know i was the one to propose it. Just... don't (stuns don't refresh when already in action and counterattacks stun for a short duration massing up the Dovahkiin).

So no haste or shadow veil. Just Spirit Shield and protection on IA2?

i always used Haste + SS, tbh. i used it since so much ago that i cannot even tell you how it felt to play without Haste XD
however at high difficulty you may want to resort to Spark, boh *shrug*

yep. or at least, it's harder to keep. you may partially compensate the higher evade by picking arcanist/negation over fleet/shadowdancer but it's not a wise idea to lower evade when you have no piercing mitigation at all. probably needs a reinforced buckler of barrier...

QUOTE(Epion @ Dec 24 2015, 19:52) *

yep. with all the aftermaths of having to recast so many spells so often. mana cost is the last of your problems

yup. then maybe a way to start 1H and buying a bit of time before having to look for actuators? afterall it may have a sense since at around lv250 your light proficiency (and its abilities) is already high enough...

Is it worth adding Heartseeker, or is that only when channeling comes up?

You probably saw yourself that you cannot put Heartseeker on IA.
Anyway, you should always have Heartseeker on, it costs a bit but the duration is extra-long and the damage increase it provides is very visible (casting it with channeling is the icing on the cake, but don't restrict yourself to channling-only cast).
There is no reason not to have Regen and Heartseeker always on.

What elemental ailment does Fire magic explode? Is it Wind or Elec? I checked the wiki, but different pages have the elements in different orders. I ask because I'm not sure which Spike Shield to invest in.

So I've noticed that my 1h heavy set has some advantages over my 1h light set. I saw talk about how since it is slower it gives more chances for counter and speeds up clear speed. Also I never run out of Overcharge in heavy because of the extra counters.

So what's the advantage to having a 1h light set? Less MP consumption and higher evade (survivability) seem to be the only things that I notice.

Also I have Innate Arcana 1. I have haste on it not. Switching to protection would be the better bet?

you just simply wont die. block + parry + evade.

So at what level should I start to invest more into my gear (via forge) or even consider to start soulfusing equipment? I'm only 133 atm but I notice my available gear for upgrades is becoming thinner and thinner until around level 220ish.

ATM I have been upgrading my shields/swords for block/parry but only the first 5 levels (only around 6k credits per 5 levels to do it) but haven't done much of anything else.

You have the right idea - don't forge more than 5 until at least level 300+, since it costs expensive special materials and gear won't last long anyway below 300. You might not even bother forging to 5, because 6 low-grade + wispy = around 1100 per level. Add up the more useful stats (PABs, PMI, evade?) and it's a bit costly given that a plain Average will probably be better in just a few levels (less than a day).

Generally, wait as long as possible before soulfusing; preferably, past level 340, unless you're lucky enough to find an amazing drop or a great equip for a low price near your level. The only exception is mainhand weapon; ADB scales up quite a lot with level, and it really hurts to have to look for a new decent rapier every handful of levels between 250-340. If you can find a prefixed Exq Rapier of Slaughter with Dex and not-too-bad ADB and parry, I'd soulfuse it ASAP and use it for quite a long time.

Yeah I noticed right after I wrote that. I always thought it was on the list. And yeah I have only been casting it with channeling. I hate using potions in games. So I try to keep their use to a minimum. But I know the cost/reward is worth it.

So I noticed EDs are expensive now. Last I saw (several months ago) they were ~15k and now they are ~60k. Anyone know why?

Also I'm not complaining. I'm sitting on 26 of them.

I see, thank you. I decided earlier I didn't like the light armor / 2-hand route so I'm back to board and sword with heavy armor and so far have had good results. I can't do nightmare after the 4th/5th arena but I can IWBTH the first two for gear chance. I can also Nintendo (getting harder now though) random encounters for a nice little XP unload.

I will keep an eye out for a good weapon, at 168 I get my next upgrade which is Superior Shortsword of Slaughter not a rapier but keeping an eye out as people mass sell stuff.

Anyways, I appreciate your help and advice.

Thank you Numby for the offer but I think those items would be wasted on me. I need the parry % and the 15%+ accuracy on my weapon to keep my survival up. I rely mostly on block/parry with my 50%+ mitigation to survive the hits.

Great weapons but for this build I'm forced to rely on shortswords/rapiers for my weapons. Not much but sent some karma your way as a thank you for the kindness (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

There seems to be an abundance of equipment for lvl 100- and 400+ but very little in between lol

Im currently using this which i got off my Nintendo RE

http://hentaiverse.org/pages/showequip.php...;key=3385129df0

Dont know how long it'll last but its still working at 200 (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

What lvl should i get my adept learner up to? Mines @ 100 now, would getting another 30 lvls in it be better or buying IA1?
