This is the third rant on "What could I do with minimum budget and pure drops in HV" series.
Here's the first rant about
DWand the 2nd rant which is about
2HMaxed my 2H proficiency, maxed the other melee style & heavy-light armor proficiency then trying to niten.
tl;dr not that much boost compared to 1h-heavy, but clearly way less frustating and costly than 2H.
After 2 levesl despairing with 2H I simply switch throw away my estoc back to the garage and replace it with
Legendary Tempestuous Katana of Balance and the
waki I used for DW.
I understand that ethereal katana slaughter + ethereal waki nimble is considered more ideal by some other people, but this is the only thing I have, spending a few mil for any better equip would be against the theme here (IMG:[

style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) also that 60% cit chance without overupgrading doesn't sound so bad, right?
here's the stats.
[attachembed=75385]
- the 147% magic hit chance is from soulfused aether.
Clear time for To Kill A God (80 round arena) is 2.919 turns in 27minutes.
Clear time for The Trio and The Tree (100 round arena) is 1,481 turns in 01 h 41 s (there's some downtime and RTO storm in the middle of the arena, so consider the turns difference, this should be way faster than the 80 round without using Skyward Sword)
Clear time for End of Days (First SG Arena) is 4.635 turns in 40 minutes.
All on PF difficulty
The first is without using too many Skyward Sword (start using it in the last 10 round after remembering that I have the skill (IMG:[

style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ),
the second and 3rd is using Skyward Swords every round (2nd) and after the SG shows up (3rd) when on spirit stance and having enough spirit

Notice how I only use 1 Mana Potions while I rants about having to change my way to chug it from less than 10%mana(when IA disabled) in 1h/DW to whenever the cooldown ended and <50% mana in 2H.
Conclusion:
Niten-light is actually a pretty playable fighting style for low budget if not for the requirement to grind the 2H proficiency (which actually possible to play in low difficulty without extra cost).
I haven't try Niten-heavy but seeing how getting more parry from the off-hand could suddenly change the requirement from mana potion-intensive play 2h to more like 1h-heavy brainless play (just like when using DW), I don't think trading that parry with better mitigation and adb is better - the ADB difference between my 1h-heavy and niten-light is around 600points, and that should be covered if I'm using katana slaughter instead of balance.
The loss of PA proc really hurt, but skyward sword PA is actually a nice addition. If only there's some other way for niten style to negate damage mitigation or boost damage like PA proc or 1h Overpower, it might be better than 1h-heavy.
And actually, why not giving it one? given that niten is more like an advanced fighting style combining 2h and dw, making it better than basic 1h fighting style should be fine. That way the old katana-waki are rare weapons would be more justified.
And If 10b might consider it, this might be done by giving extra bonus to niten crits, making niten a "hit fast-crits hard-evade more" fighting style. For example a 50% physical mitigation reduction effect (2PA stack) that calculated when the crits happen will be helpful.
next episode : grinding maging proficiencies.
