pre 0.82 it's by smacking T&T on low dificulty but since they get extra damage boost after a few hundreds turn (iinm)
maybe smacking monsters on low quality-high dificulty IW the only viable method now... But maybe somebody know another and more efficient method?

Don't worry about prof. that much. I never grind for prof. It will go along with you as long as you use the style. I became a mage at Lv390 and now my staff prof. is 402. (unless you're in rush (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif))

I started using spellspam mod so I'm not using normal attack at all and for some unknown reason staff prof requires auto attacks to rise. Tenboro should change it imo.

Just to be safe.
Pieces like this are to be salvaged and sold as such, 100% of the time. Right?

Is there another way to reduce magical/elemental mitigation of ennemies than with Imperil ?

1580 1 Arcane Blow hits In Memory Of Dark Mages Mk3 for 625 crushing damage.
Staff proficiency sure is fun
BTW, don't do what I did. Use equipment that lets you finish rounds in 700 turns or less (if playing on IWBTH. lower difficulty allows for more turns before damage becomes too much).

Not enough hits per round, too much attention required IMO.

Well, you could, but I'd rather no-focus play if I'm trying for proficiency rather than clearing.

It completely depends on how often you try to Tap, doesn't it? Unfortunately, Tapping is rare (at least for me), and it's only one chance of getting proficiency gain (and 1000 turns of straight attacking might only gain 0.5 proficiency). So natural rise doesn't feel like enough.

I think there is a difference before and after training staff prof. From 300 to 440 gave 70 MDB, which is the same amount one would get from forging MDB from 30 to ~42 on staff.

Holy attacks reduce magical and physical mitigation.
Higher player proficiency results in specific mitigation reduction on monsters.
Fewer resists accomplishes something very similar (more damage), which is accomplished with more prof, more Penetrator, Oak and Willow, Magnet, and Elec attacks.

Indeed (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
(I just realize most of my staff prof. gained from previous patches, limited pot, (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif))

RE: My earlier post. Calculating bazaar sell value vs equipment condition:
Sample size: 590 Average to Mag equips. Special tier gear (Phase etc) not included. Outliers (mostly those starting with 95% condition) thrown away.
I checked the sell value of each before repairing, and then checked it again after repairing.
By comparing the difference in sell value to the difference in condition, assuming a linear relationship, and extrapolating towards sell value at 0 condition, I came up with the following:

Attached Image

So, the great news is that base sell value is very predictable and stable, even if it's not a constant, which I was very worried about before. Equips starting at 90% condition or more (that is, the ones with the most margin of error when extrapolating) were almost always the ones calculated to have less than 75 base sell value - if those were removed, the curve would look even more nice and flat.

I did not include special gear because I didn't want to spend the energy cells, and because it's always better to sell or salvage them rather than repair anyway.

I only checked equipment condition %. I should have instead checked equipment condition value ("550/600"), which would have given more more accuracy - but the conclusions would have been the same.

Note that the extrapolated sell value at 0 condition is not possible to get to - minimum equipment condition is 1.

Now that base sell value is known, anyone can predict final sell value when given only initial sell value and initial condition.

imo a better way is to follow Cats Lover's advice: play Crude-quality Item World at PFUDOR (with a 1% condition staff if possible, so that every monster takes more hits, to save Energy Drink)

IWBTH > PF. HP is the same, and damage taken is much less. Damage done also can't be too low, or it'll take too long, and past 1000 turns even in 103 PXP IW on IWBTH, the incoming damage starts getting unbearable.
