balance is mainly for the offhand strike chance, you loss a lot of dmg there.

we're speaking about wakis here, not about rapiers. currently my DW build (with waki of numble) has 88% offhand chance, would 12% really mean so much?

While buckler does have lower interference, the amount reduced is not much, while giving up a significant amount of potential block in exchange. Not usually worth it (unless of course the player is at a level where they're having trouble finding any shields that aren't trash tier).

Well, Legendary Buckler of the Barrier can have almost the same block (or even higher is some cases) than Legendary Force Shield. Maybe the amount of ITR is not that important with the unlimited draughts and potions, but Buckler has over 10x lower ITR, so I think the reduced amount (about 25 ITR, more than many single heavy armor pieces) is relatively big reduction. Maybe the cost of forging doesn't matter either to higher level players, but for those who care about it, I think Buckler of the Barrier is not bad option for mid to high level (~300-400+) players either.

Basically I'm just saying that Buckler of the Barrier is probably the best option for a player that wants to lower ITR, but still wants to have decent block.

Yes. Offhand strike is basically +50% dmg. And you can see 1.5/1.44=1.042, 4% more dmg

on the other hand, with 52% evade (without considering shadow veil on IA) and 77% parry, incoming hits will be 11%. with the same evade, but with 12% less parry (thus 65) incoming hits will be 17%, right?

thus 4% more damage for 7% more incoming hits?

Depends. If you have utmost faith in other defense (a.k.a. if you have shit forged your armor), then yes. Otherwise, nope.

Not quite. Balance has Crit bonus, which is DW's specialty.

Read clearly. If "the player is at a level where they're having trouble finding any shields that aren't trash tier" (read: level 0-250) then it's not an issue of which type of shield to choose from, but of finding any that are available - in which case, of course, go for a a Mag Bucker or Barrier if it can be found, or anything else.

BTW its only physical hits.
7% is only in absolute. You will take 50% more hits (1.5x)

i counted that 7% as physical ones, since i took into account parry. not interested in magicals, since evade and resist didn't change

nope , forging my rapier parry to lvl 50 will cost much more than 300k

1 lvl from 25 forge need 6 HG metal + 1 nimble + 1 coruscating catalyst (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)


you will need 500k+ due to HG metal and coruscating catalyst

yup. MGM 500c, HGM 2k, bindings of nimble 3k, catalysts at coupon clipper's price. fact is, i used a version of my spreadsheet which stopped at lv25, so 300k only for that level. 900k (or better, 932k) for full forge. it was too beautiful to be true (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)
however 25 forge gives you +25%, so your call whether to spend other 600k for the further 10% or not (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
